Anyone that has experience with the
9,3 x 64 Brenneke?
I am looking for loadingdata, velocities that are realistic with safe loads and common barrel-lengths, information from the use of this carteridge in hunting-situations. Anyone chambered it in the Pre-64 action?

Ola,
I have no expereince with this caliber. I have found two reloading tables with european powders.

Vithavuori with 25.5" barrel in 14" twist
258gr with 67.9gr of N140 vel 2670fts
285gr with 67gr of N140 vel 2530fts
293gr with 75.9gr of N160 vel 2550fts
All these 3 loadings are max load, you can start with 15% less.

Vectan powder with Norma bullet
231gr with 66gr of TU3000 vel 2838fts
286gr with 65gr of TU3000 vel 2608fts
All these 2 loadings are max load, you can start with 15% less.
Hope this can help you.

Ola,

Check the "Gunsmith" forum for a recent thread on the 7x64 by "Cobalt". He just finished a 9.3x64 and the two of you could get together and share some reloading from the start.

Hi. I used a new pre-64 action for mine. I put a 25" Krieger bbl. on, NECG sights, Talley QDs, MPI stock. I like Varget: with the Speer 270gr,SP (a plinking bullet at best) I get a little over 2800fps(clocked); with the Nosler 286gr Part I get a bit over 2700fps; with the Barnes 286gr. X bullet I keep it down around 2550fps. I have some Woodleigh 286gr but haven't done any load development yet. Hope this is of help. Daryl

Hi Ola...
Welcome to the No. 1 forum. Glad to see another Norwegian joining in. Not to many of us posting here compared to our Swedish neighbours !!

According to "Ladeboken", 62 gr of Norma 202 will give you 2561 fps with a 250 gr Barnes X.
And 66 gr of N150 will give you 2578 fps with the same bullet.

Moving up to Swift 300 gr; 73 gr of Norma 204 will give you 2487 fps, and 75 gr will give you 2552 fps.

Start low an look for pressure signs.
Rumors say that one should use only premium bullets in this calibre.

Regards Arild

Glad to see other fans of the 9.3x64. I have some 286 grain partitions loaded up with RL15 and some loaded with H-4350. Just need to get to the range with the chrono. I'll post my results when I get out there...

Ray,
Your 9.3 was way too nice a piece to part with. But since you sold it, do you still want to sell some of the ammo/reloading components? I am interested. You posted some prices earlier, but I may have trouble locating them. Let me know. Thanks, Cobalt

Cobalt,
I took a Dakota Safari 416 Rigby in on trade towards the 9.3x64 and we just swapped dies and ammo...

I like the Dakota action but the stock does not fit me, it is too stright to use with irons and should bring all the recoil stright back and thats the preached culture these days...I like a little drop and split that recoil up with some up and some back fits me better and I want to be able to shoot the iron sights....

The Dakota is for sale and it sure is a pretty rifle with nice English xxxx wood. I'm almost tempted to have it rebarreled to a 505 Gibbs, and take a rasp to the comb. HELP ME! the devil is working on me again.
