The test gun was a SS with a plastic stock. The rifle isn�t that ligth though, 3,2 kg without scope. The 20" barrel have shallow flutes and the stock is somewhat thinner than the standard syntetic model. The stock is my opinion a poor substitute for a wood stock. It�s not a glass fibre stock, it�s injected molded. The stock is soft and close to inpossible to bed. The floorplate are made of aluminium not steel like the standard 75 model.
In spite of the soft stock the test rifle in 6,5X55 shot exeptionally good groups at 100 m. Lapua factory loads with 7 gram Scenars printed 5 shot groups around .7" I really would like to test that rifle with a bedded laminated stock and handloads!

I just bought a Finnlight in 30'06. Truly the Cadillac of production hunting rifles. With Winchester factory 150gr. Ballistic Silvertips groups ran well under an inch for 3 shots. I handload my ammo and only purchased this factory stuff because it's still too goddamn cold and snowy to work up loads, but if it does this well with factory stuff I am anxious to see what handloads will do. No point in screwing with bedding or anything else on this rifle; it doesn't need it. The bbl is about 20.5" or so. The stock is very comfortable and fits me well, including the palm swell. It is lighter than the Steyr Mannlicher I traded to get it. It fits my idea of a hunting rig; stainless synthetic with a clip (the best detachable mag made) and compact, accurate, and fits me well. Ihave also played with one in 7mm'08. What a beauty of a sheep/goat rifle! I can't say enough good things about my Finnlight!
The Sako Finlight is a superb rifle. It weighs 6 pounds in short action models (6.5 in long action) and has all the great features of its big brother, the Sako 75. That includes a very nice stock, extremely accurate barrel, crisp trigger, short throw action and legendary accuracy. I especially like the magazine system employed by Sako, one of the best there is (and very handy with Canada's new gun laws). The fluted barrel is well done. These new rigs are expensive but quality comes at a price.
Hey Joe, Welcome to AR! Do you or did you use to work at KHC in Atwater? I believe a friend of mine knows you. He is the Pres. of the local CWA chapter. Some pretty neat guys here especially the ones who make it colorful .sureshot

JoeATCA, KHC = Kenney Home Center. My friend Martin speaks of a local friend who hunts Africa. Thought maybe you were that person, you know how big Atwater is. sure-shot
I have one for sale on the Classified Board below. It is like new and includes Sako stainless steel rings and an extra 5 round magazine. A great rifle.
