Maybe we need a trail camera review section. This is the best place I figured to put it. I'm in the market for a trail cam for deer hunting. I know I want a fast trigger speed & recovery time with high quality images. What issues should I avoid? What brands do you all recommend? I was looking at the cuddleback & found a site that has a few trail cam reviews & they said that cuddleback ask them NOT to do test or reviews on their product! Not even to mention their name! Confused Roll Eyes Whats up with that?
Go to this link then look under manufactors for Cuddleback.

Doug,

I have been trying the Bushnell HD, and they are absolutely great!

I am taking some of them with me to Tanzania later this year.

The bushnell is a good one. Good quality images, SD card removeble, video settings and the best part is with Lithium AA's they'll last for up to one year. I have had two of the for the last 2 years and they're still on their first set of batteries and have each taken over 4000 pics each, maybe more.

Shoot straight, shoot often.

I have used cuddieback, wild game nation, bushnell and moultrie. Cuddyback been the fastest for me. I actually have a hawk landing on ground about 10' in front of camera, wings spread as he is almost on ground, got him right in middle of frame.

Saeed:

I agree. In the interest of full disclosure, I got one free to try out. Very impressive.

Be sure to bring a camera along when you check the trail cam; just pot the SD card out and put it in your camera.

Bushnell trophy cams are damn hard to beat. They cost more than the competition but they sure work and the battery life is second to none

Thanks for the information. What is the sensor "trigger" range of the Bushnell? The different manufactures don't say much about that. They all brag about flash range.

I recently picked up a couple of the new Scoutguard SG565 Flash Camera's. Color day and night pictures. Wide 90ft. detection range. About the same size as the Bushnell Trophy Cams. And $179.95

I believe the more the better I buy the cheaper ones and put more out to cover a bigger area.

I am not looking for great photos just ones that well tell me what is out and about.

That way if something happens to one like a bear chops it some one steals it tree falls on it I drop it the seals leak and it fills with water.

I am not out a lot of money.

I did a side-by-side comparison for Petersen's Hunting in 2015. I can't recall the exact scoring but the Bushnell and Wild Game Innovations units both did very well. I have some Moultires that I use as well.

Family gave me a Reconyx Hyperfire for Christmas. So far I have no complaints. Image quality is good, very flexible on trigger programming, and battery life is amazing. So far I have 'captured' deer, elk, fox, bobcat and skunk.

I have been buying Bushnell and Cabelas brand lately. Cabelas have been taking them back and replacing them if there is a problem within a year.

I have even had them swap them out without a receipt on cameras that I TOLD them were over two years old.

Their customer service, with me, has been flawless. But, I'm a hell of a nice guy! dancing

I have two different brand units.
Both have moderately tight SD card slots.
A word of caution about inserting the SD cards.
I installed the SD cards and after a 2 month period of time, retrieved the SD cards to review pictures.
I found that when one camera's SD card was inserted the tight slot caused the SD card "lock" to engage, therefore that camera did not save any pictures.
A follow-on test showed that the SD card slot would lock the SD card 2 out of 3 times when installed, and you can not detect this when it happens, only after the card is removed.
Be sure to test the unit once or twice before trusting it.
After that experience, I decided to epoxy the SD lock in the non-lock position.
