Usually in the grasses. Being semi tropical down there the climate really accomodates insects and snakes.

OK Perry, I get the idea. Are they kinda like a tick? We have a lot of Pine tree's here and ticks we got. Used to back em out with a cigarette but had to quit em so now I just use a torch Smiler

I know I'm late in getting in on this post. I hunted the Armstrong Ranch a few years ago for a meat hunt on a cow nilgai. We saw over 100 nilgai, shot mine early in day. This is the ranch where Dick Cheyney shot his buddy while quail hunting. Its 60+ k acres, abuts the famed Kenedy Ranch. Saw plenty of quail, deer, javalina but only non- native species ( hogs & nilgai) were allowed. We lodged on our own and rented a sweet little beach house and met the foreman at a diner. A fairly cheap day hunt w/200 lbs prime meat to fly back with...

I did the hunt with Mike Powell on the H Yturria Ranch, 1/22/2013. This guy is Ace's in every way. I would recommend him to anyone. smoker1 PS Tried to post a picture.
