Any one interested in elk meat??? A rancher I know bought a ranch in South Texas, 1.5 hrs from San Antonio, that has 40 elk on it which are draining troughs on a daily basis, destroying fences and generally being a pain. He has given me permission to sell day hunts for them. Hunts will run through Dec. 4. This is his price list 100.00 to hunt 700.00 kill fee 200.00 skinning, quartering (do it yourself and fee is waived, for instruction see "quartering..." post) There are 2 bulls he will also sell for $3000.00 and $4000.00 This is not a penned hunt. This place is 3000 acres of pure brush and the elk are all split up. PM me if you are interested. Perry

get the carcasses cooled down as quick as possible! --------- perry, some serious questions: i can understand the access fee, and of course the skinning/quartering fee. as for the 700 kill fee, does he actually own the elk or are they wild? or does the 700 fee take the place of an elk tag? if they are wild, does the state of texas get anything out of the deal? if they are more domestic, is there any worry of CWD? not trying to start another "thang" here, just trying to see how it works. 3000 acres is a pretty respectable hunting area for wild game.

The bulls range in size from 250-320 as best estimate from a guy who hunts elk in Ariz. all the time. The 250 range is the one who costs 3000.00 and the 320 range is the 4000.00 bull. Perry

IIRC Elk are considered exotic (non-native) animals in Texas. So if they are free ranging all you need is a hunting license to hunt them no special tags and they can be hunted year round. I know TX has both free ranging and high fenced elk.

Doesn't sound like they are too much of a problem at those prices. I hunt elk on a huge private ranch in CO fully guided with far more than 40 head for less money How much does he charge for his cattle? $100 a pound? Reloader

Ya know its a shame a fellow can't make a straight up legitimate offer on this board without being belittled or ridiculed for doing so. GWB

Free range elk? I seriously have my doubts. With the range that elk have and the ability to walk through a 4 strand barb wire fence at will! Just call it what it is...........wapiti7

I don't give a crap about what he said. Start another thread and say what you want. But shitting on someone's post trying to sell something is flat rude. If you don't want to do the hunt keep your mouth shut and keep moving.

I think you are mistaking this forum for the "Classifieds" M16. I've always understood things to be open for discussion in the other forums. Want to sell something, go to the classfieds. I'm thinking about going there in a bit and trying to sell the mutt that's been hauling off shoes in my yard. He's such a "problem," do you think I could get $4,000 for someone to shoot him? Ya'll have a good one, Reloader

So common courtesy only applies to the classifieds?

he's offering his opinion on it, m16. everyone has one, kind of like any other body part. free and open discussion is the rule around here, and reloader's post wasn't insulting perry or anyone else on the board. according to your own advice, you shouldn't be posting on this thread, either. or do you have a few thousand dollars lying around so that you can go pay someone to take care of his "problem" for him? why is it that you get so riled up when someone has an opinion that runs contrary to your view of the world? kinda like a kid who had his ball taken away or something.... you shouldn't be so down on differing opinions. if it weren't for differing opinions and folks who express and defend them, texas would be speaking spanish and full of mexicans today.......

What do you not understand? I don't give a rat's ass what his opinion happens to be. It is poor taste to shit on someone's thread offering something for sale. Classifieds or not.

so his point of view isn't valid? someone thinking about the offer proposed on this thread shouldn't be exposed to another perspective? this is no different than if perry would have said, "hey, everyone, my buddy's got this classic 1970 dodge for sale - his wife is making him get rid of the car because it clutters the driveway - 15k$ and it's yours!," and reloader coming along saying, "well, a dodge dart isn't exactly a classic, the way a charger would be....and by the way, i'd look under the hood if i were you; those slant 6's may be nice, but they sure as hell ain't 440 hemis.....how many miles are on it?" he isn't shitting on anything - he's keeping it real. nothing wrong with giving a potential buyer another perspective. if the product is good, it will sell itself without you there to defend its virtue.

What do marketers say..."any publicity is good publicity". In answer to the price we tried to price these in such a way as to offer a guy an elk hunt/meat hunt without having to fly or take the time to drive to Colorado. Here all you need is a license and gas money. I suspected most of the takers would be in reasonable driving distance. Also this hunt can be done in an afternoon so not much work needs to be missed. I doubt you can find a better offer but if you can jump on it. Thanks for looking out for me M16. Reloader it is your right to comment if you so desire, my feelings are not hurt and I stand by our prices. Perry
