I suppose this should be filed under the muzzleloader or black powder forum, but there are more people who view this one.

If you haven't already seen it, Fess Parker, died today, age 85. I know there are thousands of us out there who had Davy and Dan'l as our hero. He represented all that youung men wanted to grow up to be, honest, brave, loyal, and self reliant.

I just told Mark Young that I never ever hear anyone criticize Fess Parker for anything. He stayed above the fracus in Hollywood.

It’s sad but I’m afraid you may be right.

As bad as I hate to say it, Thank You for posting that info.

I guarantee, with out any reservation, watching all those shows as a kid helped set me on the paths in the Outdoors that I am still following as I prepare to turn 60.

It is strange, my wife and I were discussing Mr. Parker just the other night when we heard an advertisement about his award winning winery.

It truly is a sad day. Frowner Frowner Frowner

I'm am saddened by his passing. His portrayal of Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone had a great influence on me as a boy growing up.

"Make sure your right, then go ahead" are words to live by.

Thanks Fess!

Yeah, Fess was one of the great hero's many of us as young boys looked up to. Thanks for posting Yellowstone, I think all of us remember him as a good man.

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."

So sad but very true. We are coming to the end of a great era. RIP Fess. beer

Dont you just love todays H-wood types, against anyone but their B-gaurds owning guns as guns "kill" bsflag, and will rase hell if a movie is made where a kid uses a gun to defend himself or his loved ones, but wont say a word if the same kids got a crack pipe in his/her hand, will they.

That guy was also a hunter. I remember seeing him on the American Sportsman series taking an Alaskan brown bear in the thick stuff. You could really tell that the stalk and shot had his adrenalin up.
Not many like him around Hollywood these days.
