Turkey season is in full swing down here in north Alabama and southern Tennessee. I have killed a couple of nice longbeards so far.
Anybody else been chasing those atomic blackbirds ?

Nice birds! When I lived in Alabama, I could not believe the interest in turkey hunting. It was no problem to gain access for deer hunting, but turkey hunting bordered on obsession!

For some of us it goes way beyond "bordering on an obsession" Wink
... it definitely is an obsession !

Of the combined ALA/TENN 60 day season, I will be in the woods at least 40 mornings hunting the grandest of all game birds, the wild turkey.
And when it is not turkey season I can be found in my shop making turkey callers... mostly box calls. A hobby that has gotten out of control according to my wife.

Like my father told by fiance before we married when she mentioned my obsession, "Darling, some things in life just take precedence." God rest his soul !
Andy

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."
