I posted this in another forum as well

When I first met my wife 18 yrs ago she never hunted much less shot a rifle/pistol. When we got married I told her I love hunting it's my passion! So every fall I disappear elk/deer hunting. We move to Alaska in 2008 and by 2011 she is hunting with me and my daughter. 2012 she shot her first big game animal a small caribou but she was happy lady and I was one proud husband!
Anyhow this year my Wife and daughter were drawn for dm 413 here in Alaska it's a valley cow tag and it's pretty much a winter hunt season starts 1 November. Anyhow weather cooperated today it was a balmy 19 degrees November 27th, momma don't do single digit hunting lol. Pretty anti climatic we spotted the moose, we closed the distance get her ( wife) to within 350 yds. I get the shooting sticks setup tell her put crosshairs right in its shoulder. She shoots I hear the whack of the bullet cow runs 100yds falls over dead. Rifle used: model 70 classic in a 280 Remington using 150gr ballistic tip, 58.5gr h4831sc

After my wife saw the moose go down their was another cow moose working her way down the hill. My daughter had a permit as well so we work our way over towards my wife moose and hope the other cow is coming down and get my daughter an opportunity at a shot. We work our way out of the gulley and we glass the hill and the moose is no lnger around. So we work our way to my wife's moose and their she laid. Another picture wife and moose.

So after picture taking me and my bud walk back to get the rangers my wife has 4x4 ranger 570 and I have a 6x6 ranger 800.

So we usually do the gutless meat removal but it was getting cold it was around 18-19 degrees when my wife shot it, but sun was going down and you could feel the temps dropping. My buddy got a fire going and we decided to gut it and winch it in to the back of the 6x6. Well we are hoping it works..
So we pulled the 4x4 ranger in front of the 6x6 ran the winch cable over the roll bar of the 6x6. We tilted the bed and ran the winch cable around the neck and front leg and started winching a little lifting here and there and in it went..

On our way out we spotted another cow moose. The trail got us within 300yds of it but it was getting dark and I really did not want to mess with another moose.

The trail coming in had a lot of overflow and the creek was frozen solid but a big truck went in and broke the ice so made it hard for the 4x4 to get through so we hooked tow rope up to help it through.

We get back to the trailhead load rangers up and head to my buds house. Unload the ranger back into his garage we drag half the moose out and raise the bed and moose falls out onto the tarp and we skin qtr it up in my buds warm garage

I swear every person I know that drew the Delta Bison tag did it on their first try. Joyce and I have never drawn but keep trying.

I'd never put in as a party tag though, that's a LOT of meat.

Cheers
Jim
