Has anyone here hunted with Wilderness Hunting Lodge in Tennessee? I am looking for a place to hunt pure-bred Eurasian Boar here in the states....and Wilderness Hunting Lodge seems to have great quality boars. If any of you have ever watched the Team Fitzgerald guys, and the huge hogs they shoot....those hunts are done at Wilderness Hunting Lodge. Any info on this operation would be great. _______________________________________________________ Hunt Report - South Africa 2022 Wade Abadie - Wild Shot Photography Website | Facebook | Instagram

Check this thread out. I had the same question as you a few weeks ago. http://forums.accuratereloadin...1621043/m/9461077571 "Evil is powerless if the good are unafraid" -- Ronald Reagan "Ignorance of The People gives strength to totalitarians." Thanks for the link. I don't care what Crazyhorse says....there is a difference in our Texas pigs and a true Eurasian boar. I've seen some very nice hogs here in Texas....but I'm looking for something SPECTACULAR!! When I get around to doing this hunt, it will be for a MONSTER boar. I want a boar that is 350+ lbs (preferably 400+) with really big teeth and an excellent coat. This is going to be a trophy for the wall. I've taken two hogs here in Texas that were around 300 lbs.....but one was a sow, and the other was a nice looking boar...but had very small teeth. Sow from 2008.... Boar from 2006.... _______________________________________________________ Hunt Report - South Africa 2022 Wade Abadie - Wild Shot Photography Website | Facebook | Instagram

FWIW, I've mentioned several times on this forum and others, that between 1999 and 2010 I typically made 20 trips a year to the Texas hill country, to one lease, and between 2004 and 2008 I had two different leases, at each of which I would stay a couple days each time I went. Typical trip would be to drive up Thursday hunt morning and evening Friday through Sunday. During hunting season, many times I would extend the time through the following Tuesday. That would give me the opportunity to hunt between 60 and 80 days per year, both morning and evening. Usually sit out 4 to six hours per hunt. Both leases had a good population of hogs and number of big boars. I've killed several hundred hogs during that period. WE bait using corn feeders and corn the roads, senderos and right of ways. Do some spotlighting, trapping and snaring. These are not put and take, but wild feral hogs. During that time IIRC I actually weighed one hog over 300 lbs. He was 315 on our scale. I can count on two hands the number we've taken that weighed over 275 lbs. Probably a couple dozen that weighed 200 to 250. The rest would be under 200 lbs. Only five hogs of all I have killed would have tushes worth writing home about IIRC. Three of these I have mounted. I'd say I easily have over 4,000 hours stand hunting where there was the opportunity to kill hogs. I would say if you want a big boar, 300 lbs plus, with big tushes, and you want it now, you're going to have to buy that hunt on a preserve. Best GWB

GW... And that's exactly what I plan to do. I do not mind a preserve hunt, and I do not mind spending upwards of $1,000 for a true monster boar. It's just something I've always wanted. I've killed lots of hogs here in Texas, but nothing resembling what I am looking for. There is one ranch (can't remember the name right now) in Texas that offers pure European boar for $2,000....but if I'm going to spend that much, I would prefer to go to a state where it gets colder and get a boar with better hair. I also do not mind it being a put & take hunt in this case. Hogs are not as sensitive to human contact as some other animals. I've been to other places that have "put & take" hogs, and you couldn't tell the difference. _______________________________________________________ Hunt Report - South Africa 2022 Wade Abadie - Wild Shot Photography Website | Facebook | Instagram

ES, How a man hunts if fine with me. Meant no inference one way or the other. I think it's grand that you know what you want and make it happen. I like that in a fellow. Just making the note, from my experience, doing day hunts or even an annual tresspass lease for what you are looking for, here in Texas is "needle in a haystack" type hunting. That can get frustrating if you have expectations. Best GWB PS: and if all you spend is $2 to $3 K, you'll be money ahead of me.

Peterson's T.V. show did a hunt a year or so ago with a group out of South Carolina that had a preserve with pure European boars. Dick Metcalf was the host of the program. I can't remember what the outfitter's name was. The boars were huge though.

Know nothing first hand about this place. But they have some very large boars. 300 to 400 is common and have heard of a couple over 500. You want a heavy haired beast one of these from January would fit the bill. Bear Mountain

Mike7mm-08, Yep that place has nice pigs. I shot my last one in Maine at this place. Small pigs but the price was cheap and they gave us a huge discount since we were doing it for a soup kitchen. http://skinnerbogdeerfarm.com/ I'd drive a little further than Tennessee and get some place that actually gets cold. Michigan, Quebec, Maine, New York, New Hampshire, Vermont or Sask.

I have been there a number of times. Good folks. He now has roughly 15,000 acres with the land he recently bought. He had over 5,000 when I hunted there in October. I will be there again this October and every one after that. Good folk and very good pricing. One of the few reserves where you can hunt by yourself w/o a guide chaparone....but if you want/need a guide you can have one at no cost too. You will not beat his prices for any game he has...anywhere period. Does he have BIG hogs...oh yeah. Just ask for his Presidential hogs...400-500lbs plus. Many of his hogs are born and raised right there in the hunting areas....I know because I have seen many females nursing their litters while looking for specific game to shoot. While it is a preserve...it covers A LOT of rough terrain so you can make it as hard or as easy as YOU want. The food is pretty good and everyone has an upbeat attitude with a helpful nature. No bigger bang for the buck anywhere. I believe his prez hogs were priced at $995 last October and that included your stay for 3 days. His 6x6 elk were just $2400 with the super large 6x6 and up at just $2800. Like I said, I have already been there 4 times and plan on many more October 4 day weekends there.

15,000 acres? Not quite. From their website. 11. How big is the area we will be hunting? The preserve has three hunting areas: 1100+ acers, 400+ acers, and 900+ acers. The areas are mountainous with some valleys and fields. Coming in 2011 will be a new 1000+ acers especially for wild boar, rams, and buffalo.

THIS year he bought TWO new areas which now total about what I stated. YOU are referencing a question answered BEFORE 2011. "coming in 2011 will be" Big difference. Now, some of this acreage includes his propagation areas which is off-limits to hunters...for the most part. He only allows certain people in there...I have been in there with my son and he shot a HUGE Fallow buck. Nuff said.

Talk about a sales pitch! Kind of laying it on pretty heavy I think. But if you don't mind this type of hunting (I don't), looks like a nice operation.

As I said I know nothing about the place. Guy does seem to give you a hell of a sales pitch. But of any of the preserves the biggest boars seem to come off this place. They say it ain't bragging if you can back it up. From outside sources, magazine articles and hunter accounts I have read on various online forums, he has the boars to back it up.

kudu56, In Woodrow's defense, they do not update their website very often at all. They have had that same answer to that question in their FAQ section for at least 2-3 years (since I've known about them). They very well could have a lot of new territory that is not listed on the website. _______________________________________________________ Hunt Report - South Africa 2022 Wade Abadie - Wild Shot Photography Website | Facebook | Instagram

We have 1600 acres of hog hunting available to our clients . We would love to have you and your son come hunt! To book a hunt with us go to wildernesshuntinglodge.com or call us at 1-931-839-2091.
