Checked their website and they don't list rifle cases as an exception for oversize baggage...... I called and the lady I spoke with couldn't find an exception either......just wondering if they are going to charge the oversize baggage fee???? Checked the Delta and Continental websites and they still list an exception for rifle cases, but American doesn't and, apparently, SW doesn't either! (free ticket on SW)

Tough to find a 2 rifle case that is under the 62" l+w+h measurement!!!

I've already booked with United and don't see it there either!

And I was pi$$ed when the weight dropped from 70 to 50 lbs.

Just keeps getting better!

I fly SWA all the time, most recently with a rifle case was last fall.

My HUGE SKB 4-gun case wasn't an issue. (Neither was 30 lbs or so of ammo)

Dave P- We flew United to Zim last month and rifle case was not an issue there either. United's basic competance to operate an airline is a different story though.......

I have flown United to Anchorage with an SKB rifle case many times without a hitch. I always try to give my self a two pound cushion.

I did get nailed with my pack being 6 lbs over weight. I took my sleeping bag off the pack and took it on as a carry on. The pack made weight and no issue from there on out.

The only guns I have flown on SouthWest with was 4 hand guns in a Browning hand gun case. So I did not have over sized baggage issues. But they were great with the guns.

They are a Texas airline, and as such, are very gun friendly. No problems.

I booked with them because they allow three checked bags per passenger. I can get more meat home.

They dropped the weight restriction because most woman can't handle more than 50lbs of luggage. There's your bull shit equal opportunity employer.

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."
