ROWLESBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — A man was flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital after a bear reportedly attacked him near Rowlesburg.

Troopers with the West Virginia State Police were called to a wooded area outside of the Rowlesburg neighborhood of Manheim for a reported bear attack at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday.

Troopers said that a man in his 60s suffered severe injuries from the attack, and troopers treated him until EMS arrived.

The victim was later life-flighted to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. Troopers said his condition as of Friday morning was unknown.

Highly unusual here. Our dog guys get to chase bears several months of the year even when hunting season isn’t open.
Normally you see bear butt exiting stage right if you see bear at all.

Many people want to believe that bears are just.

Friendly furry forest critters that do no harm.

Or so they have been told.

I thought everyone in West Virginia carried a 45 on their hip. I have a friend from there he says the state motto is "Ain't much you can't fix with a 45 and a shovel"
