About a year and a half ago, I was bear hunting with DPCD and Einar Hoff from Steyr/Merkel, and about a mile and a half into steep mountains I had a stroke. I don’t remember much after that. But these two great guys hauled my ass out of the woods and it took me six days to recover. Noww that’s what our hunting friends do for you. Awesome hunting buddies. My view is that hunting most times and offshore fishing all times should be done with a buddy. Mike | |||

That's to be expected from such great guys. Though really, isn't that one of the main reasons that we hunt with partners? "Having someone along we can depend on". Back up help you should be able to rely on when the shit hits the fan, horse bucks you off, gun accidents, knife cuts are among the most common hunting accidents. I've seen three cuts with others and stuck a blade deep into my thigh once and lost a lot of blood. Thanks to my uncle seeing what I'd done and insisted on looking at it. Another time just at dark a dead? bull elk swung his head and stuck a point into the leg of my partner 8 miles from camp and help, ripping a deep nasty gash 3" long across his leg at pocket level. Once we got him back to camp it was still 50 miles to medical care. That made a mighty long night! Any type emergency can turn deadly mighty quick. Besides helping to find and handle your game once it's down are other times we all need a partner along. Sure no one wants, or expects things to go haywire on a hunt. But, when they do, it's likely to be severe. Just my thoughts on hunting partners. George "Gun Control is NOT about Guns' "It's about Control!!" Join the NRA today!" LM: NRA, DAV, George L. Another AZ Writer We hunted together in Scotland, and it was though terrain, but was great. I’m so much better now that I’m on the meds for my atrial fib. If you start having atrial fib at any age, get it taken care of.
