Maine Moose permit applications are available on line until May 15th.

Good luck.

Saw your post on another forum.

My comments about Maine Moose for Non-residents:
1. While the draw is random, it's weighted bonus points. It takes some NRs 40+ points and decades to maybe draw, with no guarantees of ever drawing. I know guys spending hundreds of dollars each year on extra NR points and they still haven't drawn.

2. If you want an Eastern Canadian Moose, there are better options: Newfoundland and Ontario give you good value and Newfoundland has 85%+ success rates.

3. If you want Western Canadian Moose, then Saskatchewan or Alberta have the best value.

4. Manitoba is a sleeper Province with both good bear and moose.

If you really want to hunt moose, don't wait. Just do it.

I won't argue, but it is a drawing. Non residents have a chance at 10% of the available permits.
Play or do not, but it is an opportunity to hunt moose without leaving the lower 48.

You never know!

I drew about 20 years ago on my third try and took a terrific bull near Masardis. The lottery has changed a bit since then but I still get 10 chances each year and believe I have 60 bonus points now.

If drawn, the question will be what rifle to use this time? The 9.3x62, 404 Jeff or the 300 H&H? My 30-06 dropped this 847# bull in his tracks.
