Whats everybodys favorite bullet to hunt deer?

I know what you're thinking. "Did he fire six shots or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself a question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya punk?

I don't need no polymer-tipped tungsten cupped depleted uranium molecularly bonded core bullets coated with ultra-slick dry space shuttle lubricant with engraving belts shot @ 4000fps to kill deer, just proven performers, Interlocks and Partitions.

for deer I still use the interlock as my go to bullet and A-Frames for larger game.

However I just got some .264 120 grain North Forks that might change my mind.

For deer i use a 180gr interlock at 2950fps out of a 300h-h or a 154 interlock out of a 7x57 never had any problem just try to hit-em right up close to the shoulder.

I primarily use a 30/06 for Deer, Elk, Antelope, Bighorns, and Mtn. Goats and I usually use a plain old Sierra 180 gr Spitzer Boat Tail ( gameking ), going almost 2800 fps. I've had dramatic kills and your regular kills, never had a failure. I know everybody says that bullet is too heavy for Deer and Antelope but the gun shoots that bullet to under an inch and the animals don't seem to know the difference whether it is a 150, 165 or a 180.

One of the best deer bullets in standard cartridges; Sierr Gameking HPBT

I have used several and my only really dissapointing choice was a Speer Hot Core years ago. Nosler BT, Partitions, Hornady Interlocks (both HP & SP), Sierra's, Barnes X & XLC's have all worked fine and have no reason to work again, & again, and...well you get the idea. Deer aren't really hard to take. Nate

What you say is true for sure.....well.....at least in West Virginia. Here in Wisconsin the deer get really big.

Capstick was going to do his sixth video on dangerous game here in Wisconsin for deer but he died before he could get here.

When Nosler finally gets their head out of their butt
and makes a 165gr Accubond I'll switch to those.

Anything bigger than a deer? 165Gr Partitions @3000
or some of my remaining supply of 165gr Barnes XLC@3100

I can't ever say I've had a bullet issue for deer either with factory loads or handloads. For the past 10 years or so I can't recall using aything but Partitions in either my 30-06 or 7x57. They just plain work.

I don't mean this to sound curt, but I use whichever bullet shoots the best for whichever rifle I am using.
308 150 Partition
30-06 165 HPBT Gameking
6.5-284 120 Sierra Gameking
264 WM 125 Partition
6.5-06AI 120 BT

You get the idea. Any bullet will kill any deer if placed properly. And here in Kansas, we can have some mighty big deer.

Leaded. Not real particular about deer loads, whatever shoots well in whatever rifle. Hornady, Speer, Sierra... I do like the accuracy that BT's give though.
For Elk and such I like accubonds and heavy interlocks.

The one that goes where I am aiming.

I have probably shot more deer with Hornady interlocks mostly 277cal 130 & 140 gr than other brand.

I didn't like the Nosler BT's, they blew up too much.

Don't need the controlled expansion bullets on deer.

I have shot probably close to 15 deer with 22 cal TSX's.
I have also shot some in various calibers with NP's, Bearclaws, and even a couple with the Interbond.

If I was limited to two bullets for hunting, I would pick the Interlocks and TSX's. If I was limited to one...it would be a TSX no doubt.

I haven't formed an opinion on the new MRX? yet. But the first thing that comes to mind is why? The TSX has done absolutely everything I have asked it to do. The MRX has a plastic tip, don't know if I need the plastic tip or not.

I had enough of computer hunters telling everyone that a 22 cal was too small for ethical use on deer.

So I did it to prove a point.

I have a friend that has only deer hunted with a 22-250 his whole life. Using plain old remington 55gr factory ammo. He laughed when I bought a 270 25 years ago. Said you didn't need it for deer.

The load is a Barnes 53gr TSX @ 3750fps.

Fortunately the last few years we've had an abundance of deer in western South Dakota.
I could purchase up to 5 double deer tags per year. So the last two years I decided I was going to try prove that the 22 cal WAS NOT[B] up to par for deer(I failed). I know quite a few people who will take deer meat. Plus I have two growing boys. The meat did not go to waste. In fact, the 22 cal left less bloodshot meat than the 270 I normally shoot.

I never recovered a bullet. The shots were various ethical angle shots. I even tried to shoot a deer straight on to recover a bullet, but I didn't have the angle right so the bullet exited. Only after destroying the boiler room.

I'll be honest, the only screw up was nut pulling the trigger. I had one deer that needed follow up and a second shot, but that is only because I screwed up. That was a neck shot on a deer facing away from me. I shot low, and partially broke the pelvis. The bullet then deflected down and out the paunch.

The only other thing I wish I would have done was keep a journal. All the shots have kind of blurred together. The biggest deer was a 3.5 year old mule deer buck. The rest were all whitetails at least 1.5 years old. Shots ranged from 40-350 yards.

I liken it to using a 270 on elk they work great, but a bigger bore works better. Well a 22 cal bullet in the right spot on deer works, but a bigger bore is better.

I may be nuts to say this, but I think I could cleanly kill an elk with the 53gr TSX. I will never try or suggest someone do it. But I think it can be done. That's how much I think of the TSX design. The reason I still like Interlocks, is the fact that you don't need the premium performance on deer, and simple economics. It's cheaper to shoot the Hornady's. The more you shoot, the more likely that bullet is going to go where you intend.

I also shot a bull elk with 210gr TSX out my 338-06. It did the job period. I have also shot elk with the NP 210gr bullet. Same thing, did the job.

I have shot exactly two deer with a Interbond 130gr 270cal. I don't know what to think yet.
I thought the first one didn't expand enough, the second deer worked perfectly, but then I hit some bone going in.

I'll tell you what I'm most impressed with on deer is the medium bore calibers from 338-375. They don't have to be going fast, but when you hit a deer. They are in seriuos trouble. I have shot a couple deer with my 338-06, 350 Remington mag, 358 winchester, and a loaded down 375 H&H. I haven't seen these round flatten them, but it puts a hurting on them and they are done in a hurry.

I hope that answers any questions on my two cents worth of opinion on bullets. Remember you usually get what you pay for.
I will be out of town for the next week, so if there are anymore questions, I won't be able to respond.

If I had to pick one, it would be a Nosler Partition. I also like Hornady Interlocks and Nosler Ballistic Tips, depending on caliber. The polymer tipped bonded bullets look really interesting, but I have not killed any game with them yet.
