Okanogan County Poacher Once Convicted of Sex Acts with Deer Carcasses Awaits New Trial

OKANOGAN COUNTY — A Riverside man with a long and deeply disturbing criminal history involving animal abuse and poaching is once again facing serious charges in Washington state.

Ronald Albert Livermore, 77, known to law enforcement in two states for his history of killing and sexually abusing animals, is awaiting trial in Okanogan County after being arrested by Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) officers in December 2024. His pre-trial management hearing is scheduled for December 1, 2025. Livermore pleaded not guilty on December 16, 2024, and was released on $5,000 bail with at-home ankle monitoring.

Authorities say Livermore, a convicted felon, was found with a small-caliber rifle, a homemade suppressor, and a handheld spotlight when he was stopped near the Sinlahekin Wildlife Area north of Omak late on December 3, 2024. WDFW Sergeant Troy McCormick stated in court documents that the 77-year-old admitted to firing his weapon that night but denied killing any deer. Investigators linked Livermore to a series of deer killings in the area, where several animals were found shot and left to waste.

While WDFW investigators did not determine whether Livermore engaged in any sexual acts with the animals in this most recent case, they acknowledged his past criminal history in Oregon, where that was the suspected motive in multiple earlier crimes. Prosecutors in Washington have not attributed a specific motive to the current charges, which include unlawful hunting of big game, possession of a firearm by a felon, and use of a suppressor device.

Livermore’s record in Oregon paints a disturbing pattern. In 2016, he was convicted and sentenced to three years in prison after pleading no contest in Crook County Circuit Court to charges of abusing and killing calves. The case drew widespread outrage after deputies reported that Livermore’s apparent motive was to have sex with the animals. He was also convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm and possessing an illegal silencer. In exchange for his plea, animal sex abuse charges were dropped, and he was ordered to pay restitution to the rancher whose calves were killed.

The 2016 conviction followed a string of earlier cases. In 2008, Livermore served about a year in jail after pleading guilty to nine poaching-related charges for fatally shooting deer with an unregistered silencer. As in later cases, prosecutors dropped sex abuse charges in a plea agreement, though investigators at the time suspected a sexual motive.

Deputies in Crook County said Livermore’s behavior fit a “pattern of violent and deviant acts” against wildlife spanning years, involving homemade silencers, spotlights, and nighttime hunting. His Oregon convictions resulted in prison time, probation, and firearm restrictions that he is now accused of violating in Washington.

The Okanogan County case alleges Livermore once again engaged in illegal hunting activity—this time in the Sinlahekin Wildlife Area, one of his known hunting locations. Officers say they observed him spotlighting, driving without headlights, and possessing a firearm despite being legally prohibited from doing so.

Livermore’s trial will determine whether he violated Washington’s hunting and firearm laws. Although investigators in this case have not established sexual motivation, Livermore’s past conduct has made him notorious among wildlife enforcement officers in the Pacific Northwest.

If convicted, he could face new jail time and fines. His extensive record—spanning nearly two decades of poaching, animal cruelty, and weapons violations—continues to raise questions about whether he will ever stop his repeated offenses against wildlife.

Livermore's latest case came to the attention of Source ONE News when a resident of the Riverside area privately complained about Livermore being released from ankle monitoring obligation by the court prior to this year's hunting season.

Livermore currently faces four charges of second-degree illegal hunting of big game, second degree unlawful possession of a firearm, second degree spotlighting big game and unlawful possession of a dangerous weapon.

Not any more.

I have ceased to me amazed by what some individuals would do.

Whatever outlandish ideas you might dream of, someone has already done something a mullion times worse.

The human race has produced individuals of kindness and humanity.

And others who really do not belong to the human race!

Or, frankly, to any living race!
