I was wondering if anyone here had any information or tips about hunting black bear in Arizona. I've just started researching the hunts. I would like to attempt a hunt this fall so I have some time to get info together, but was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction. Such as: Best areas to hunt (It seems the mountains near Tucson) Best weapon to use. My inclination would be to use my .300 H&H M70. Am I on the right track? Spot and stalk or call? Thanks for any info!

quote:I recommend the Pinalenos (AKA Grahams). Extremely high bear density. At least there was 10 yds ago when I worked on the mountain. Your gun is a workable. A larger diameter, slower bullet for shorter ranges would be better. I have yet to see a bear there at over 50 yds. Brent

Well, in that case, perhaps my .375 H&H or .35 Whelan AI.

I called in a nice Bear ont he San Carlos reservation a couple of years ago. I shot him with my .375 coming in fast to the call. It was an exciting hunt.
