Well, my suitcase has seen better days and I was wondering if anyone has anything good to say about the Cabelas "Alaskan Guide Model" Freighter Duffel? The dimensions of the large model falls just short of the airlines' maximum 62" measurement (L+W+H) before they can charge you for extra baggage. It seems this model has many useful compartments compared to an open duffel where things tend to shift around alot. I'm open for any other suggestions as well. Thanks.

I have one (Wheeled Duffle) and really like it, except... I know sooner had bought it than the airlines dropped the weight limit. I just shipped it full of stuff out to Idaho for our elk hunt next week. It weighed in at 95# according to UPS and I didnt even stuff it full. Certainly wouldn't hesitate to buy it again, although I might opt for something a bit smaller, no sense having something that big if you can't use it. If you don't want to fly with it or want to ship it ahead of time, then the size is perfect, especially since it is on wheels.

The wheeled duffle I got from Cabelas does not stand up on end so once you finish pulling it around it falls down. It is heavy too. But it does have a lot of room.

I think Delta now refuses any bag over 70 lbs (it may be Continental; I can't remember).

I used to carry a steel 80-quart Coleman cooler with padlocks between the lid and body; it would carry all the meat from a deer and an antelope with room for dry ice. Very durable stuff.
