Buddy of mine has a XDS and I tryed it the other day. Controlled shooting at 45 feet, 2" bull. 45 auto and super lite weight. Don't hardly pack a bear pistol now, but my sweetheart thinks I need one. Must think I'm getting slower than the bears

If you like it...get one...shoot the hottest 45 acp you can...and empty it into the bears head...if you are having to use a handgun in a GBear situation...you likely need a CNS shot any way Mike Legistine actu quod scripsi? another thing that I like about it. you can safely carry it with "one in the tube" So if heaven forbid, you end up "under" one of them.... Been around a lot of Griz and haven't had to shoot one yet but the next one could be the "wrong" one. A lot of difference tween shooting paper and facing down a charging Griz, thou I think the more you are prepared the better the outcome.

Love the Crossbreed's. There are other holsters just as good, but the CB is my Go-to 90% of the time.

Maybe even better is my taurus 44 tracker that will put them all in one hole at that range with a 315gr wfn at 1000fps. But we all know a hit in the front paw with a 45 will do the job.

A lot of guys carry .45acp these days. Lighter, more rounds and some what more controllable than the magnums. I prefer spray, cheaper, more affective, and you don't have to drag a warden or ranger into the high country and defend your actions. We come across half a dozen grizzlys every fall, never had any trouble. WE did see 9 in one trip 5 years ago while sheep hunting south west of Cody. Give them distance, obey the rules and a little common sense and no trouble. As fast as they can cover ground, I don't know to many people who can draw and shoot quick enough in a surprise situation to do any good.

Can't disagree with you, except if you're all by your lonesome deep in grizzly country, sometimes a big boar will take a real interest in you. I've had that happen five days into the Bob Marshall. When that happens you really just have to move camp and keep a gun (or spray ready). Same goes with spray most people don't practice with spray Don't know why people think drawing spray and pulling the safey pin is faster. Carry what you like I prefer a good cailber firearm.

Look at the MagTech loads. Face it if you are drawing down on a charging Grizz. All else has already failed, and anything you do is better than nothing.
