| I guess it must be part of the format to track, whether they run or not. I've reduced a lot of deer also, enough to get about whatever reaction the director wants if the deer is unalarmed and at ease. Maybe deer on video are tuffer. notice the end of these shows never show anyone field dressing the animal either. |

| Of course they have to track the downed beast...it takes up most of the 30 minutes dedicated to the show!! "Looky here..he took a step before he died".
What else can they show you "here's ol Billy Bob fillin' up the feeder with some crack corn....they's be a coming in like flys on poo!!" and "we just put some new paint on the ol box, she's darn near invisible now".
I gotta hand it to Zumbo though...I do watch his show. It is all about the gutting...then the eating!!!

| jorge,
The Deer you hunt must react differnt then ones I hunt. I have shot More deer with a bow than all other forms combined. ie Rifle, shotgun, muzzle loader, revolver (I have used them all.) I always shoot for the double lung, just a bow hunters habit.
I have had plenty of deer drop to the shot, when double lunged, with a lot of caliblers from .243 to .300win. Not all but plenty.
I have had 2 or 3 drop to that shot with a Bow even! Usually smaller deer, but they didn't get up.
Also one neet finding is that I have had only 1 deer run after being shot with a 250gr XTP from my Black powder rifle (Encore 209x50), all double lunged, at reletivly close range (inside 70 yards) I don't run them real fast either, about 1650 fps. That is one out of about 10 deer with that particular load. Go figure. |

| Jorge, I always try for a lung shot to minimize meat loss.My shots are mostly short range and they typically run 50 yds using 45-70 or 6.5x55. Last season my lung shot was typical ,50 yds, except when I took apart the deer I realized that the 45-70 first smashed the shoulder then took out the lungs ,but he still ran !! |

| I have shaot many game animals and don't find the shoulder shot to drop game any quicker than the double lung shot unless the spine is hit. Abullet that hits the shoulder blade and damages the spine is a sure drop but tears a lot of meat up. |
