Fair enough BS.
I would definitely have to get it shipped,
and when my kids get "shootin' age" may look at that option, in that caliber.

My brother uses the .308, and I always kid him about MINE being "a little bit bigger".
But, what one will do, so will the other.

I have never used mil surplus ammo.

Is it worth shooting accuracy-wise?

From what I have seen, the closest place for me is Ontario (which still ain't close.)

However, if I was convinced the surplus ammo was accurate enough to have some fun at the range with, I may look at that in the future.

What is your experience with milsurp?

A long time ago, military was about 1-2 MOA
out of a match grade m1a, at, 100 yards.

Handloads, the best we did for the rifles, would fire 1/2 or less, with open sites, benchrested.

However, the military worked great, and, was cheaper then buying cases. I do remember that certain military ammo had a bar accross the primer pocket, and was NOT reloadable.

I found the ball great training ammo, since that's what we would end up using on 'game'.

Johnny Ringo,

In my opinion, the best way to do mil-surp,is to simply shoot it.

Buy a small quantity of something that interests you and then shoot paper with it. If you deem it as capable of making you happy, stock up on that very same lot and enjoy the savings.

Like any other product, there is a difference in quality. I happily shoot Berdan primed cases,as long as it is non-corrosive. I'm not concerned about reloading it,because if I want a big batch of 308 brass I buy once-fired.

I have had very good "luck" with ball ammo. Even better luck with reman stuff(Black Hills and Thunderbird Cartridge Company in particular). I don't expect it to shoot anywhere near reloads, that are tailored to a specific rifle, but it is often suprisingly accurate.

Buy a sample, shoot it and then stock up. That's the ONLY way,to know what your rifle likes best..................

Ah, don't listen to Big Stick he shot a BB gun once and now he thinks he's an expert;-) Seriously he does have a vast amount of knowledge on most things gunny. However he knows I've killed more than a few deer sized animals and larger critters, with my 30.06 and 7mm08. He also knows he won't be changing my opinion any time soon. Hey, if we agreed on everything life would get down right boring. Oh and btw Stick, .243's suck! There now I feel better:-D
