Flesh well and alot of salt. Change salt daily if the hide is still wet. Allow for good air circulation to help it dry. | |||

Good luck with the hunt. Remove as much flesh and fat as possible before salting. I use a large spoon for scraping the hide which is easy to carry, and won't puncture the hide. Lots of salt. If you are in fly country I also apply a liberal amount of pepper to eliminate egg-laying. Roll the hide hair in and I use a large cloth elk bag to allow circulation between the rolls of hide. Keep it cool (no plastic) and get it to your tannery as soon as you are able. | |||
