Bear prep
I'm out here in area 24 Kapuskasing ontaro and having no luck with my moose; I still have a couple of days of bear. Bear seems to be plentifull up here so I'm thinking of a nice bear spread.
Q? how do you prep. bear hide

Flesh well and alot of salt. Change salt daily if the hide is still wet. Allow for good air circulation to help it dry.

Good luck with the hunt.
Remove as much flesh and fat as possible before salting. I use a large spoon for scraping the hide which is easy to carry, and won't puncture the hide. Lots of salt. If you are in fly country I also apply a liberal amount of pepper to eliminate egg-laying. Roll the hide hair in and I use a large cloth elk bag to allow circulation between the rolls of hide. Keep it cool (no plastic) and get it to your tannery as soon as you are able.
