If so, are they dry? I need lightweight insulated waterproof boots. Mine are 20 years old and are starting to leak. These look comfortable and have Vibram soles and are under $200. Thanks. Ray

They will work for that, throw away the insoles and buy the right superfeet for your size and foot shape.

Thanks. I just ordered a pair of Meindl Perfekt hunters. Never tried superfeet. I'm hooked on these (orange) Redithotics. They are incredible and saved my crushed plantar fascia.

The last pair of Rockies I had were absolute junk. Nothing at all like they were producing a couple of decades ago............ but then I think they are now outsourced to Asia.

What a shock...... not!

Last pair of Red Wings I tried were also junk, and that use to be a company you could depend on for quality footwear.

I also ended up with Meindl this last go round. Seem to be good boots and are lasting well.

My work offers us Red Wings or Carolinas w/ the metatarsal guard, yearly. The guys who chose Red Wings are very disappointed, the Carolinas are great, but no where near as comfortable as my pair of Thorogoods.

+1

I have had three pairs of Meindls and love them; one is a colder temp model and the other two are lighter weight.

One thing to remember about boots is find a pair that fits your feet first. Different brands are made on different lasts so choose the one that matches your feet best. For me that's Lowa but somebody else it may be Meindls or whatever. Then choose the features you want. It pays to spend a little more on good boots. They're the foundation of your hunt. Without them your not going anywhere.

You made an excellent choice. I have owned two pair of the Meindl Perfekts and have had two other pair of Meindls. I have been very happy with them all.

Tried my Meindl's on today. First impression is that the quality is there. No rough plastic fabric like most of the ones I've tried on in the lower price range, just a smooth inner body feel. The quick lace eyelets are unique because they clench the lace in place. I'll run them through the muck soon enough. At 4.25 pounds, they aren't light. But, a good fit might trump the weight.
As for other "used to be good" brands, I see lowered quality a lot too these days, not only in boots, but across the board. Either, a bigger company buys out a smaller company then changes the recipe and/or origin of the product or builds a cheaper product to a certain price point to attract more sales. Brands like John Deer lawn mowers, Troy built products and even Rolling Rock beer, Polar spring water, half and half cream and Kitchen Basics cooking stock.
Great responses, thanks. Nuthin' like hearing about first hand experience. Glad I didn't buy the Rocky's.

I would also recommend good socks. A light, quality hiking sock makes a long hike MUCH better. I have been hunting elk off and on for the past week. The socks and boots have helped a lot. Especially, with the pack out!

I like wool socks myself.A good blend of 80% Merino and 20% expanding polyester makes for a comfortable sock that will not blister your feet.I now wear this type of sock year round.

My ONLY complaint about my Meindl's is don't try to be too quick using the speed lace eyelets. They will cut clean through the laces provided. I replaced mine with 550 paracord.

Meindl's get a thumbs up. Ran 'em through the muck and even swamped one almost up to my knee and only the top inch of my cotton crew sock got a little damp thanks to the close fit. They were a little toasty yet vent heat very well after truckin' around in 50-60 degree temps for several hours. My socks were quite dry when I took them off. Thank you all. Well worth the $300.
