I heard that at a hockey game that the Canadian fans boo'd our national anthem! Any one else hear this. If it is true I will cancle my fishing trip this summer and a business trip to Vancouver. Maybe it is time to add them to the same list as France. NBC news said that tourism to France from the US has dropped 40%.

They weren't real canadians they were quebecers. The same idiots that came within one percent of voting to separate from canada a few years back.Unfortunately they decided to stay and we are stuck with them. They have no respect for anyone or anything so you shouldn't be surprised by their idiotic actions at a hockey game.

Yes, some hockey fans in Quebec did. However, I've been at a Blackhawks game in Chicago where the Canadian anthem was boo'ed, and this was way before 9/11 or Iraq, so I guess I don't see why you would base your hunting and fishing plans on what hockey fans do. This is one of those rude things that seem to be what are done these days, sad to say. It's simply bad sportsmanship, and a rude way to treat what are essentially guests. FWIW - Dan

Yes I did. The game in question was Toronto vs New York. I think you can add British Columbia and Ontario to the list of overly liberal anti-American, anti-gun provinces, along with Quebec. It is interesting to hear now several, times a day, whining from Canadians about the increased border security. Of course the Canadians have harrassed the Americans for years at the border. The reason, Americans are all drug dealing gangsters, who are smuggling in guns and drugs to corrupt and/or kill innocent Canadians. It seems the Canadians cannot handle the same treatment. I won't be spending any of my money in Canada for, that is for sure! Axel [ 03-29-2003, 19:56: Message edited by: Axel ]

I didn't hear about the Toronto game. In Montreal it happened one night and the next, Jean Belivuae (10 time Stanley Cup Winner with the Canadiens) told them to knock it off. They did.

Axel I think you've got a lot to learn about Canada, being from Germany and all. BC is the largest supplier of illegal drugs into the Northwest, mostly marijuana. It is not the US who are the Drug Dealing Gangsters The lower Mainland is a bit liberal but nothing like the Central Provinces. Away from Van. BC residents are the finest people in the world. They are much more like westerners in thought and outlook than people from Michigan. It is the attitude of Americans that can turn a friendly conversation into a nasty one. Why don't you just go play with all of your Big Bore Rifles and look at the catalogs for all your lathes and leave the commentary to ~Judy or Roguemoon or Sniperonthegrassyknoll or whatever name she is using this week. I must compliment you on the improvement in your English though. In a few short months your writing has improved dramatically, now you sound just like you have been here all of your life.

Let me start by saying I am an Officer in the US Army and will defend my country, it's people, and it's Constitution to the death. With that said: Be careful characterizing a nation and it's sentiments by the actions of a few. To an outsider, America looks to be falling apart, the media reports daily on actors, reporters, citizens, and even political leaders who disparage our leadership. That does not mean the entire nation is anti Bush or against the war. I have been through Canada (western half)twice and found the people to be friendly and not unlike Americans in their views. Let's say there are anti-American feelings around Canada, not that the Canadians are anti-American.

I stand corrected it was in fact Montreal not Toronto. Mickey, thanks. Axel

Eltigre and other Americans, Go ahead, and boycott Canada. Possibly our pathetic Canadian government will see the light. I doubt it though. If I could boycott them, I would. Our goverment makes most hunters and gun owners in Canada, sick to our stomach. Thier possition on the Irag war, even makes most of us sicker. This brings me to the point I would like to get across. Why not take this to the politcal forum? Axel, Eltigre, A couple of years a ago, if I recall right, american women's hockey team used a Canadian flag to walk across. If I am not mistaking, The booing started in the states. It really does not matter who started, they are all loosers in my book. My thoughts are: I think it is unfortunate, but I don't give a fuck what the sport fans think, Canadian or Americans. If you don't want to hunt or fish in Canada, all the power to you. It isn't going to effect my hunting and fishing here. Why miss out on something you wanted to do because of some loosers. My heart goes out the Americans and Coalition and to thier families. Well said yukoner! I think most of the Anti-American sentiment comes from french dominated provences. I have never met a rural Canadian that I didn't like! Good people, salt of the earth types much the same as our rural folks.

It's true about Quebec, they're always looking for something to bitch about or stir shit over. I'd say let them separate, but find their own land to build a country on, what they live on is Canadian soil so screw them before they give the entire country a bad rap. Notice the dickhead Prime Minister who refused to join the war, and the guy who thought up our gun registry are French Canadians -connection noted. As far as hard feelings go, remember when a few US Marines flew an upside-down Canadian flag on national TV over a hockey game? Didn't think so. All in all I think we know better than to judge a country on a few fucks with no manners or respect. Any Americans are welcome at our lodge and when sitting around tipping back "Alpine" and "Moslen Canadian" you can't tell the difference between us.

NBHunter It looks like there might be a bit of land available in the Persian Gulf Region soon. Mild climate and some waterfront. Nice and helpful neighbors. It will probably perk too. Maybe they could buy that?

I don't expect all of Canada to be in total agreement with us on this war. We have our own citizens having protest marches in recent times, it comes with the territory. I cross the border a number of times each year and will do so whether Axel approves or not and I find the people in BC to be as nice a neighbor as you can have. I do not begrudge them a difference of opinion, no matter how it is expressed. We have our own dissidents so our laundry isn't exactly clean. And Kokanee and Moosehead??? You guys go ahead and drink that, just leave the O'Keefes for me. Gotta love a beer with the nickname of "High Test".

There are gonna be the loud few anywhere you go. Whoever is in control of population type dispersal seems to have done a pretty good job of spreading them around. I live in Kentucky, and the majority of good ol boys here would pay to get Saddam back in the woods. They'd keep him alive a good while and if you get far enough back in the trees, they would muffle his screams quite well I suspect. Yet, down in Berea (our local pocket of liberals), they have a pile of brick-size granite in a church yard calling it "Peace Rock" or some such and the some of the population of the Liberal Arts college there hold protests where they support the candle making industry by burning a lot of them (why do they all start swaying back and forth when they do that?) and write all kinds of junk on the granite. On the other foot, there are good people all over too. I'm sure there are good folk in Iraq that have just been smart enough to keep their opinions to themselves, shoot their AKs in the air whenever the idiots in charge do and in so doing can drink their tea and carry on living till something happens to change the situation. And yes, this does belong in the political forum unless we can get the "good ol boys" in the Kentucky Game and Fish department to open a season on swaying liberal arts students holding candles. The Canadian government sucks!!!! Most of its people are OK and consider the USA good friends. Hey we can look at areas in the US California is a liberal state That is like its own country. The disrespect to our flag hurts, After 9/11 that flag has been though to much. I believe no one should boo at a national anthem.

Eltigre What ever you do, don't cancel that trip to B.C. You will regret it. Every Vancouver Canucks game has cheered their heads off for your national anthem. You are more than welcome in western Canada. You will not find better hunting and fishing any where else in North America with Alaska being a close second. I've heard our anthem boo'd but I will not take it personal. I will never stop visiting the U.S. as long as you let me in.

I do, sorta... We get some snow and sometimes it gets really cold, but it's rarely "prairie cold." Whistler IS a ski resort after all... In Vancouver and Victoria, there's no winter, really. When they get an inch of snow they close all the schools and everyone stays home, except morons that drive into ditches.
