Buell, did you have anything left of the bobcat after you shot it at close range with a shotgun? I have had to do the same thing with deer and ended up with an almost headless deer. You bet I shoot them until they are dead. I have had several downed deer get up when I approached. One nice buck gave me a little more excitement than I enjoyed. I seem to recall that Davy Crockett liked to bay bears with dogs so he could walk in and kill the bear with a knife.
