I have to agree with JoeZ and DB Bill, the Opus X. However, they are only available once a year and then only in limited quantity.

I guess I'll have to stick with my Hemingways.

Why the "non-Cuban" restriction?

A friend of mine owns a cigar store, although I rarely smoke them...Cubans are good...

1.Padron Anniversary-all time favorite
2.Opus-x-waaay too expensive(but good)
3.CAO-reserve-only had one-dang good
4.Partagas-always consistant
5.Puros Indis-pyramid

The only Cuban I would put in my top five would be a Monte Cristo#2. I could list more-but, I always go back to my Padrons-regular and anniversary.

Sure the Opus-X is great but for the hunter trying to conserve cash for trophy fees, I gotta vote for ANY of the Hoyo de Monterey Exaclibur Series. Sadly, I remember when even the Churchills were around $5.00US before the cigar fad took over . Now they are over $7.00US. I have a hard time spending the serious cash for an Opus-X when I can bring Cubans back from the Jo'berg airport. For a non-Cuban, the Avo is also quite good and the Montesino is a very very good value for the money.

Lets hope these US restrictions stay in place. Hopefully that will keep the price down (??? I wish) for Cuban cigars for us in the "rest" of the world. (LOL only joking).

Used to work for a winery and we used to sell them. Staff prices - good deal.

For Cubans, I like Bolivars (medium size - can't remember the actual designation. smoked one tonight in fact. These always give quite a good kick. I also like the Montecristo Joyitas (long, thin and elegant when you don't want a "serious" smoke).

For non-Cubans I like Sumatran cigars from Indonesia. Distinctively different and well priced.

DB Bill,

My favorite is Partagas from Cuba.

I have smoked on time Indoneasian cigar made by JTI. I prefer the Partagas.

I have heard that the Dominican Rep. made very good cigars but never smoked it.
