The one I'm most proud of was not taken with a firearm, and I was not the hunter. I'm most proud of the little buck my new hunting friend (Ear-nose-throat doc who is in the air force) took with his new Bowtech while hunting on the ground. He has only taken 2 other deer, one was in TX when he was stationed there. The other was on base in Dayton. He has nowhere else to hunt, well, he didn't until he met me. I put him on several of my spots and he filled all but 1 tag, and all with his new bow. I put him on one of my best spots, told him there were big bucks in the area, but he admitted that the first one with any calcium was his if he could get a shot. On his 3rd hunt in this spot, he took a little buck, a 3x2. I've never seen a hunter so happy. He was nervous about hunting from the ground without a blind but I told him he'd love it. I don't have the photo anymore. I'll email him and get it. He's big into sleep apnea and related research. Though it is not big game related, if interested, here's a news story on him while he was in TX. Click the link and watch the video. Here are a couple that I am really proud of, just can't narrow it down to one. This is my son with his first Mule deer Buck and first Bull Elk a few weeks apart this last fall. Buck was a 180 yard shot and he put it right down, the Bull took more shooting but my son exhibited extreme patience waiting for 40 minutes while watching this Bull in its bed until he stood up and gave an opportunity for a shot at about 75 yards. My son shoots a .284 Win in a Ruger M77 flatbolt that my dad bought new when I was a kid. My 2 brothers, my dad and I have all taken Deer with this rifle now it is my sons and he was very proud to get his first deer with it and his and the rifles first Elk. My son and I worked up a load for this rifle and he practiced for a year or more with it shooting nearly 300 rounds in 2006 getting ready for the hunt. The Deer was taken near Lake George Colorado October 2006 and the Bull was taken near Eagle Colorado Novemeber 2006, my son was 12 in the first picture and had just turned 13 for the Elk hunt.Very exciting. I'm one proud dad!

On November 15, 2006, my youngest son killed a 6.5 year old 130" 10 point that my brother and I had been watching for 4 years. He shot it with his Encore 270 topped with a Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14. He was shooting Winchester Supreme 140 gr Accubonds.

Actually the wife's buck from the backyard... .308 H&K (770) and a Nosler 165 BT. I did get to do the dirty work, and would rather she get to shoot. Much happiness for all that day. Wow! Some wonderful stuff. Here's my contribution; my first moose. Got him in the NH White Mountains region on the 80th hour of a grueling, and incredibly rewarding hunt. Used a Model 70 in 7mm Mag, tossing 175 gn TBBC. He's no monster, but that wasn't the question. ______________________ Hunting: I'd kill to participate.

Can't pic one! My ND prairie whitetail taken with a Benelli R1 in 270 WSM. He was in the middle of a barren pasture with a doe. Here's my hard won ND Prairie Chicken. Extremely hard to draw a tag and really hard to hunt. You just can't get close to them! Trophies are not dead animals...they are living memories.

I'm pretty proud of this guy. In the area I hunt they dont' get much bigger than this. He's in the top 3 off all bucks I've ever seen in the area over the last 18 years.

Ivan, that would be in top 3 of any whitetail that I've ever seen in person. Frank "I don't know what there is about buffalo that frightens me so.....He looks like he hates you personally. Like Doc, the one I'm most proud of from last season, isn't one I took. One of my best buddies did, I put him on the hunt, the stand, and he even shot it with a rifle I had given him. A true once in a life trophy, 224 3/8 B&C! Eastern Kansas, 270 WSM with Win Factory 140 gr Accubonds. Clean through at about 60 yards, he ran about 30 yards right towards my buddy, and then piled up.

My wife's first elk, we had a long stalk and she made a great shot at 247yds. I couldn't have been happier if I had killed it myself.

Don B, no unfortunately not in Ga, in a hardwood draw in Kansas. We've seen a lot of big boys there, but haven't had a shot at many of the biggest, this one probably was the biggest seen, much less killed. Frank, I really like the pic of your goat, 15 incher?? Elkman, congrats to you and your wife!

That's a poor picture of my goat, I should have realized that a brown jacket makes a terrible background. The left horn made 14 6/8 and the right made 14 5/8 but he carried good mass through the third quarter so he looks good. Frank, at least your coat was light brown, and the thing I like is that you can see most all of your antelope in that pic, their coloration is really beautiful! Megalomaniac, that is a great buck, really cool rack!

I am really proud of this buck, one that eluded many hunters over the years and was missed at least twice this year alone. I took him a mile from my house on land we have framed for generations. One shot at 150 yds with a heym SR20 30-06 and 165 gr SST's. A great way to celebrate 100 years of the 06 and I look forward to my new house and trophy room.

I took this bear on the Kamchatka Peninsula of Russia in May of 2006. He squared 9'6" and the skull was 26 15/16". The rifle was a Montana custom by Hill Country Rifles in .325 WSM shooting 200 gr. Accu-Bonds. Mike NEVER BOOK A HUNT WITH JEFF BLAIR AT BLAIR WORLDWIDE HUNTING!

Bowhunr, I don't think that you guys are all little people (PC for midgets) so I think that bear is Fricking Huge! A big brown is on my wish list for sure, one like that would do just fine! Nice pics, thanks for sharing.

Thanks Fish. He is my favorite trophy. I have him on display right now at a local sporting goods store that my wife works at, as he will not fit through any of my doors. I hope I will have a trophy room some day that will handle him. Mike NEVER BOOK A HUNT WITH JEFF BLAIR AT BLAIR WORLDWIDE HUNTING!

Here's the only "major" animal I killed last year. I was hunting a fence line in an area where I had seen a 160"+ buck recently. It was almost dark and I heard some serious noise behind me and this big guy came walking underneath my tree stand. I was watching 15 deer when he arrived and EVERY ONE of them ran off! So, he signed his own death certificate. I gave him a 180 gr. Barnes TSX out of my .300 WSM at about 50 yards. We didn't actually weigh him but he was definitely 300+ lbs. Maybe even 350! He was a toad! I couldn't even drag him. Shot him near Mason, TX where we had a 2,500 acre lease on the Llano River. _______________________________________________________ Hunt Report - South Africa 2022 Wade Abadie - Wild Shot Photography Website | Facebook | Instagram

No pics of my "one" from '06 I'm afraid, but the memory won't fade I expect...besides photos would hardly have been "period correct". While working my way down a drainage toward the Guadalupe River bottom in Central Texas in November, I spotted an over-the-hill buck working his way up the draw in my direction. As the wind was in my favor, I went to prone and waited him out. When his path brought him to within 50 yards of me, I whistled softly and brought him to a stop. My sight picture settled gently just behind his shoulder as I pressed the trigger... Clack-BOOM! Smoke, sparks and the sounds of a stricken run indicated that I'd taken my first buck with a .50 caliber flinter, a patched round ball and a healthy charge of the Holy Black. My forefathers have my respect for not only feeding their families, but opening a country to westward expansion with rifles of this type. I don't even want to consider the possibility of fighting for one's life with one!
