| Ditto on the 7-08. My Rem 700 works just fine, very accurate, very good in the wind, not too harsh on the meat, but @ 200yrds will still bust through every bone on a pronghorn's front end and keep going out the other side. Some say not flat enough, but that is unrealistic. If you are shooting at a range that requires holdover with any legitamate antelope rifle you are holding over for almost all of them. The extra range that you get with flatter shooting rifles comes with a tradeoff of more meat destruction and most likely more recoil which may contribute to less accuracy.

| I have a 223 and have used this cartridge along with the 22-250 on deer here in Texas with good results. As for a general purpose antelope cartridge I will take something that has more energy at the longer ranges, mine is a 24 inch barreled 270 with a 3x9 power Nikon. 130 grain Hornady flat base spire points pushed by a top load of H4831. If there is a better antelope cartridge it's not a whole lot better. |

| The truth is that the wind pretty much keeps my effective range to 350 yards with any rifle and a few extra fps from any medium bore magnum isn't going to change that. |
