I took my wife down to the Calhoun County ranch this weekend for a little gator hunting.

When we approached the first bait saturday morning I noticed that the line was on the bank and had been pulled into some vines that were about three feet high. I eased up to take a look and saw the back end and tail of a big gator. I handed my wife a 12 gauge shotgun with a slug in the chamber. Then I grabbed a pole and started pushing the vines off the top of the gator. All of a sudden this huge mouth full of teeth and a loud hissing sound popped up out of the vines. I turned to go get my .22 pistol when my wife stepped forward and blasted the gator with the 12 gauge. He measured 12 feet even. Here is a picture.

Very nice! My four-year old keeps hounding me to take her "crocodile hunting." I think I need to look into something a little closer...

Pass along our congratulations to the little lady on a job well done.

Nice gator, btw.

Your wife is a fine shot it appears.

So what do you do with 12 ft of alligator. Having eaten gator tail once, that looks like about a decade's worth of steady chewin'

Wow!

I'm going to Tampa 10/13-17 for a hunt. My friend killed one last year that was 10'9" and 450#.

They use crossbows, floats and spears.

I like the 12 gauge with slugs option...MAN!
