I like (and play) a lot of different stuff.
What's going through my head this morning, though....
We lost a great one yesterday, Johnny Cash. RIP.
I saw this on one of my music forums, & believe it's worth posting here. His daughter Roseanne co-wrote this one, & recorded it as a duet with Johnny. He sang the second verse. Sort of prophetic, eh?

SEPTEMBER WHEN IT COMES
by Rosanne Cash and John Leventhal

There's a cross above the baby's bed
a savior in her dreams
but she was not delivered then
and the baby became me
There's a light inside the darkened room
a footstep on the stair
a door that I forever close
to leave those memories there

When the shadows lengthen
into a copper sun
first there's summer, then I'll let you in
September when it comes

I plan to crawl outside these walls
close my eyes and see
and fall into the heart and arms
of those who wait for me
I cannot move the mountain now
I can no longer run
I cannot be who I was then
in a way I never was

I watch the clouds go sailing
watch the clock and sun
I watch myself depending on
September when it comes

When the shadows lengthen
and burn away the past
They will fly me like an angel to
a place where I can rest
When this begins I'll let you in
September when it comes

I absolutely like it all. Music helps fill out the soul. I will even say I like some RAP. Run DMC isn't too bad, but Hammer is still the best. I was raised on old country (Cash, Faron Young, Marty Robbins, Hank Sr.)and still like it along with George Strait and Randy Travis. I have a liking for Elton John, Journey, Kansas and Shaggy as well as Linkin Park and Evanescence. I just like it all.

Did I just see someone post, who likes country AND rap? Good lord. That hurts.

By the way, do you know why the call it Rap?

Because Country had the patent on the word Crap and they had to drop the "C".

HV,

In all honesty I dont recall who does "The rodeo song". Just threw it in for giggles. [Big Grin]

#3 was Country Joe Mcdonald and the fish, remember Woodstock? You nailed the rest.. [Wink]

120mm,

I feel your pain, I cant abide (c)rap either. [Roll Eyes]

Even though I like 95% classic rock I gotta give up some reckognition for the passing of Johnny Cash. If I MUST listen to country music then let it be old school, Hank Snow, Eddy Arnold, Loretta Lynn and so on. I still remember watching some of them on Hee Haw, Who was that old fart with the glasses who used to play the fiddle with Roy Clark? Incredible talent..

I like the traditional country music. Just can't take the New York City accountant country music they play now.

I'd go out walking after midnight with Patsy Cline any day of the week!

Johnny was the man. The army did a commercial this year where he plays and sings Tom Petty's "Won't Back Down" while showing footage from WTC and Afghanistan. I'm usually sniffling by the end of it....

The blues.I listen to all of it from Robert Johnson on down to the Allman Brothers and Clapton, also love all three of the Kings (BB,Freddie and Albert),Howlin Wolf, ect.

There's a band called Gov't Mule which was started by Warren Haynes of the Allman Brothers. He's a superb lead/slide guitarist and singer, and does blues and classic rock.If you like Cream,Allman Brothers,SRV,ect,I strongly recomend this band to you.Be sure to check out their early stuff when Allen Woody was on bass."The Deep End Volume 1" is also a very good album of theirs.

Brian.
