Waylon Jennings (late 60s to about 1980) is what I always listen to as Im headed north towards the bridge. Being from southern Michigan and a member of the bowhunting community I would be in trouble if I also didnt mention Ted "The Whackmaster" Nugent.

Ooops! How could it be that on one here said Dixie Chicks? For myself, the range of music goes from The Pogues (on the CD-player in my car at the moment) to Bach (the greatest there ever was)...

Dark Paladin, You're right, the only one on your list I've even heard of is Toby Keith. On the other hand I've got almost everything Al Jolson did on the original 78's if you're interested.

Johan, you'll do fine in Texas even if country & rap aren't your favorites. Country is popular everywhere but in the cities rock, pop, blues-rock & dance music rule. You can also see & hear world class classical music orchestras, opera & ballet. Some of the best music in Texas, however, is the regional stuff: cajun-zydeco, conjunto/Tex-Mex, salsa/merengue, Gulf Coast swamp-rock, electric blues, etc. Speaking of music, Robert Palmer ("Simply Irresistable", "Addicted To Love", etc.) died today of a heart attack, age 54. Interesting how folks with similar passions in one area have similar tastes in other things. I like rowdy county (Mark Chestnut, Joe Diffie et al) moutain, & blues to pick me up on when I need a lift. Also Kim Richey, Shawn Colvin, Lyle Lovett, Steeleye Span, Eddie from Ohio, Leon Redbone, Ani DiFranco, Tom Petty, Maffay, Sep Bos. Classical favorites Include Bach, Mozart, Vivaldi, Satie, Copland. Sei wach!
