Greetings All, My two girls want to hunt Pronghorn. I've hunted in Wyoming before, but the places I hunted before are near impossible to draw. So I'm gonna have to look for leftover permits on private land or another state. Anyone one have any ideas or contacts that will not break the bank. I don't really need a guided hunt, but I'm open to everything. I'm just looking for a great hunting experience, where they will have to work at it. Thank you in advance. Will

Call the Wyoming G&F Office in Gillette and get a list of ranches that allow hunting for a trespass fee in unit 23 just south of town. It is mostly private land with lots of antelope and you can buy leftover tags in July and not even worry about applying in the draw. It's not cheap to get on a place to shoot a buck, but if you want to get in a fun hunt many places will let you shoot does for a very small or no fee at all after the first few days of the season. It's especially that way if a guy has kids that are just getting their feet wet and I'd recommend that doe hunt so you won't break the bank and have a ton of fun with the kids. Unit 23 allows up to 4 does per hunter most years, so you could shoot a couple each and take lots of good meat back to CA if you take care of them properly. The adult tags are only $34 each and youth tags are even cheaper. Good luck and if you have any questions that I can help you with just send me a PM. I've hunted Wyoming most every year since 1992.

TG, thanks for the info. These girls are 22 and 24. The 22 yo has hunted pigs a few times and the 24 yo has never hunted. I think this would be a great opportunity for both to "Work For It". I know Pronghorn hunting isn't real work, but you have to remember these are "California Girls".

Obviously they won't be able to get youth tags, but make sure they've passed a Hunter Safety Course and carry their cards with them during the hunt. Have fun and knock em dead!!!

If you are OK with doe tags, and maybe buck tags, unit 47 is a good hunt. You can almost always draw doe tags, buck tags maybe. Lots of public land, and lots of antelope. I hunt there the second week to let the crowds clear out. By the middle of the second week, there is usually just me. I stay at a hotel in Casper and drive to the unit about 45 minutes south for the day. Jeremy
