jb, you are about as far away from Texas as one can get. That's a good thing. Try to keep it that way! Wink

In your first post you said your rules dont apply to us, we can do anything we want, and it is LEGAL. Hence my response to ask what laws we break while hunting.

Sorry about the day or two delay in responding. I was at the ranch engaged in illegal activity...we call it hunting down here.

This is what I said.No where do I say anything about being illegal.in fact,i was responding to previous post who were commenting on the legality/ethicalness(?)of the subject of this thread.

"...can damn near do anything, and not only is it legal..."

as to infer it is not legal elsewhere or that you are suprised it is legal.

What hunting practices are you referring to? I hope this makes your own words more understandable to you.

What bothers me is the videos i see where the "hunter" takes an animal in an obviously artificial setting and acts like he is such a skilled outdoorsman.
The one video the guy missed the same deer three times in a few hours.it just kept coming back out to the feed.He was so proud of his skill,to take the big one.
Another video the giant buck is standing outside the blind eating in the middle of a dirt road.He wasnt eating dirt. The food was contained in a shallow trench which concealed it from view.
It sure would make it alot easier. No need for reading sign, stalking, stealth, making the long and difficult shot.the stuff that makes hunting, hunting. All you need to do, is know where the bait pile is.
But I had this discussion with several Texans a few months ago .And now again

Great story, Ryan. Man, a great looking sis and she can shoot, too!! It doesn't get any better than that. I'll bet that rancher was happy with her taking the initiative to crack one off at the cat in spite of the lamo that couldn't hit squat with his thuty thuty. As was stated before, in that situation any hit was good as they were going to run him down anyway. It at least made sure he was taken care of. If the client was happy with whole thing, then mission accomplished and another pain in the ass cat removed from the livestock. One thing that I always have noticed about forums, it doesn't matter what you post, no matter what your intentions, you will get negative feedback clap What part of New Mexico was it in? I lived in Alamogordo for 10 years.

Sbhooper,
I think it was near Santa Fe. Thanks for the kind words.

Jb,
One thing to keep in mind about what you see on "hunting" shows is that they are, at least, 85% acted. I have been in on about a half a dozen or so tv shows that were about hunting and I can tell you that they are nearly all scripted and a lot of it is acted.
It does not matter where the "hunt" is supposed to be, Texas, Georgia, Alaska, Africa etc. They are nearly all the same.
How many times have you heard...."we are out here on this beautiful ranch/farm/preserve with insertoutfitternamehere hunting the majestic insertanimalnamehere". Then there is the obligatory product placement of the latest widget that is "revolutionizing" hunting and everyone must have in order to be a successful hunter.
I don't even watch hunting shows or be a part of making them anymore. They are all too much alike and predictable.

The Hunt goes on forever, the season never ends.

I didn't learn this by reading about it or seeing it on TV. I learned it by doing it.
