I never have saw any fighting but several times when headed up to the Grand Junction area I saw bighorns grazing along side the highway.

They are damn impressive animals.

Ross,

That is a common occurrence along the road on the North and South Forks out of Cody,WY in the winter rut period. You can just go out, park, watch the show and take pictures. The rams pay little attention to the vehicles.

Makes my head ache watching those two come together.

Dad said you could hear two Merino rams fighting from quite a distance.

No wonder they suffer some damage occasionally.

While visiting Glacier National Park there was two bighorns having at it in the parking lot. Seems one was intent on keeping a pool of anti freeze from an over heated truck to himself, everyone wanted to wash down the anti freeze but they where willing and able to defend it.

Back when Geneva Basin was open we made the drive from Pine Co toward Guanella Pass, which goes through Grant. Always saw bighorns along the road.

It took me a while to find that picture, it was taken in the 80's in Glacier I had to digitize it so the picture quality has degraded

I've seen that show many times, I used to hunt up Elk Creek near the East Gate of YNP. I've also seen that show in Wind River Canyon after they re-introduced the Big horn Sheep herd to the area.

I've also watched a couple of Bull Elk battle it out in downtown Jackson Hole...that tends to back up traffic because of all the tourists/out-of-staters.

There are definitely some things I miss about living in Wyoming.

the worst is when the Mtn. goats come down near hoback junction just outside of Jackson hole.
damn things just stand around the middle of the road in the middle of the night.
you cannot see a white goat standing in front of a white wall of snow at 3 am.
it's also common to see mule deer fighting in town in Marbleton and LaBarge during the rut.
I'm surprised they can buy car insurance that covers deer damage there.

On that same trip to Glacier my wife and I took off on one of the trails through the mountains and while getting to the edge of a drop off for pictures we walked up on a group of Billy Goats who proceeded to surround us, at first I thought they would butt us off the side but as it turned out they where somewhat humanized and ignored us, on the way back we walked up on Grizzly who was coming our way from about 75 yards we immediately went back the way we came

We're driving up to Georgetown today I used to work at the Loveland Ski Area a little west of Georgetown and I would often see Bighorn any where from Idaho Springs to Georgetown.

When I was younger our family went camping over in Colorado. My uncle who lived in Castle Rock I think it is took us hiking. We could hear the Rams fighting a little ways off and when we crested a hill we were able to watch them. It was amazing to see in person. You could almost feel the concussion from when the two collided.

Banff Park , in the old days, you could feed B&C rams at roadside. Too many road kills, so they've fenced off the highway.
