I use a 8x58RD (Remington Danish, in a singleshot rollingblock action by Husqvarna. Its a Rimmed cartridge with a 12,7 gram softnose travelling at something like 2500fps. I use it for beaver and deer, and its the best mediumsize caliber I have ever used. Low recoil, tremendous effect on game and a beautiful rifle. /Peter
I don't know if it is an obscure round, but it definatly is a sleeper, and a great round, the 240 Weatherby Magnum coming out of a 26 inch barrel. Fast, flat shooting, hard hitting, and easy on recoil.

I love medium bores, started with .35 Whelen, .375 H&H, 9.3 x 62 mm and now the .376 Steyr. Judging from the variety of bullets, fantastic performance, within 100 fps of most .375 H&H loads, and nice package, I'll go with the .376 Steyr Pro-hunter. 300 grain @ 2450 with regular reloading manual data from Hodgdon, with both Varget and BL-(C)2. Of course there is that .416 Taylor I'm still looking for. lol Good shooting, and if you have the money and time, good hunting
7MM-06 WITH .10" ADDED TO SHOULDER FOR DEER, 6X57MM MAUSER FOR COYOTES, AND THE WIFE WILL BE USING 7.03X64.5MM AND THE BOY WILL BE USING A .255"X2.165" NORSKYBLASTER.

Not to nit-pick, but you don't mean caliber. About the only obscure calibers mentioned yet are the 318 WR, 333 Jeffery, and the 700 whatsit. Mean what you say, say what you mean.
Myself, I'd like a K98 in .435", ala 425 WR, but on a 2.5" Lapua Mag case, blown out at the shoulder to about .570" or so, load some 410gr Barnes or Woodleighs out to 3.34", a soft 2400 fps or so. Why on Earth would I want to do such a thing? Because I like the number 11, of course!
RCHAPURA, tell me about your 348 Imp. Gun, bullets, loads, etc. I see Barnes has a 250gr with an impressive (optimistic?) BC. Have you ever tried sizing down .358" bullets? There's quite a few might do jes' great if they came out right.

Well I see nobody else listed a 338-308. I have a Winchester Model 88 I had rebored to this caliber and it's a real sweetheart. I also hunt with a Savage 99 in 358, but this caliber seems to be making somewhat of a comeback so it may not be as obscure as it once was.

HOW did I miss thinking of the good old Krag!
Thanks Frank for reminding me. I have a Krag that was manufactured as one of 5,000 carbine versions ( when a 24 inch barrel was considered a carbine). I am blind as a bat and this think with the original military barrel will give me 3 inch group with open sites at 200 yds! It had a Lyman peep site installed on it, and a Redfield Slip on front site sometime back in the 1950s. But what a sweet rifle. Vintage Rifles that shoot are a wonderful thing to own. Give me one of those over an " Ultra Mag" any day.
Hctor Roveda: Gustavo thinks that Im from Mars. By the way a jabal translates into wild boar or Russian boar here. Another topic: have any of your ever heard about a 560 Holland & Holland?. Regards

32-20WCF. Just picked up an old Savage Sporter Model 23. After shooting it for the first time yesterday, it might just become my favorite small game and plinking cartridge. Accurate little beast!

I occasionally still use my great-grandfather's Marlin 1889 32-20. My first centerfire rifle was a 25-35 Winchester 1894, purchased at Buckhorn Guns in downtown Dallas for $35 around 1959. I loved that rifle but my father couldn't understand what I saw in the 25-35.

My favorite "obscure" caliber really isn't obscure at all....a SMLE No.1 Mk.III* that has been bubba-ized...synthetic buttstock, wood forestock painted black, 21" barrel, and Simmons 1.5-5x Whitetail Classic scope, oh yeah, 5 round magazine. An incredible combination in the timber or the bushveld...
I'm also quite fond of the .300 Savage in my Dad's Model 99. Not really obscure either though...

I dont have one but I cant help thinking what a wonderfull wildcat the 375-338 would make. It fills the gap between a 9.3X62 and a 375 H&H quite nicley with a good bullet and brass availability.
