Austin HunterKansas Hunting Help
Folks,
I need recommendations on good, public lands in Kansas for white tail deer, rifle, resident license. Some place that isn't over run and may take some hiking to get to a good spot (hopefully no ATVs are around).
I have a friend (he's also an employee of mine) in Kansas that has never hunted and wants to try. So I figured instead of bringing him to Texas, we'd hunt in Kansas (Just him, not me).
Thanks!
Eric

larrysI would check the Dept of Wildlife and Parks web site. There is almost a million acres in the walk-in program where landowners make their land available for no fee. You do not even have to talk to the landowner. In fact they do not want you to. The only restriction is you must walk in. No vehicles of any kind allowed. For a resident, you can get your buck tag over the counter, along with the required hunting license and you are set. If the resident wants a Muley tag to go west, I believe you have to apply for that. I've never applied for the Muley tag, so I am not sure.
There are also about a million acres of huntable public park land. Again, the web site is a great resource.

Austin HunterThanks. There are a lot of public areas. I was trying to get recommendations on ones that folks have hunted.
