I had been trying to catch up with a white tail doe morning and afternoon for 6 days and finally ran on to this one on Christmas morning. About a 140 yard shot thru the spine with my .35 Whelen using a 225 grain Barnes Flat Base XLC bullet. She weighed in at 124 pounds ungutted which is a good sized doe for this area. After I got her gutted and skinned Lora and I made aq run checking the ponds and I ended up with 4 ducks, so I had a great Christmas Day. Even the rocks don't last forever.

Merry Christmas! A doe, or cow, is almost always better table fare than a buck or bull.

The best eating ones still have milk dripping from their lips.

She still had a little milk in her udder, but she had got rid of her fawn(s) recently. Most of this old gal goes to my two step daughters and their families. I like taking the older does out, because they are the ones that usually seem to spook the easiest with even the slightest mistake on the hunters part. Even the rocks don't last forever.
