Have i understand right... If i shoot a moose whit a 577 T-REX and a 750 grains solid bullet. Then the hole are going to be the same as the bullet diameter because the bullet dont leave much energy and go right throw the animal whit much energy left.
I have shoot mooses whit a 7 mm remington magnum. And the bullet have expand to 14-15 mm diameter, but the hole in the shoulder have been about 30-35 mm in diameter.

yes overkill, you're on the right track...if you hit any animal with a solid, there won't be as big of hole as with a soft point, just because solids aren't designed to expand. If you hit bone w/ it, there may be the possibility of some expansion and deformation, however that is a very small possibility if you're using quality solids. I am pretty sure that you will also get a complete exit with a 750gr Soft Point, and a VERY large exit wound, because the bullet has expanded, and transferred a whole lot of energy into the surrounding tissue. I would think that whatever is in the way of that 750gr soft point will resemble thick and chunky tomato soup after the shot. Hope this clears some of it up for you. ------------------ | |||
