I am awaiting delivery for inspection an Antonio (not Angelo).Zoli o/u with two sets of barrels. First is a set of 28" full/mod and secondly, a 25" combo of 12 gauge and .308.

Does anyone know the reputation of this guns, either in "pure" shotgun or rifle/shotgun combination?

I'd have to second yes on this, from memory the same guns were marketed by Tikka (or Valmet?) as the 512 series. The ones I have seen here in OZ have had a poor reputation for longevity.
Nice to look at, a bit fragile, accurate enough, but poor reliability.

That's only the ones I have seen, and some of those were several years old, perhaps the quality has improved since then?

Do these pictures "ring a bell"? Is this the Valmet 512?

Doesn't look like the 512's I have seen. I'd have to say either they have changed the outward appearance, or it's a different gun altogether.

The pictures above from Judge G is certainly not a Valmet 412, nor a Tikka! it is a ZOLI and made in Italy. If the thing shoots it is certainly worth $1850

The Valmet Lion, Valmet 412, and the Tikka, are all the same design,with the Lion, and 412 made in Finland, and the Tikka made in Italy. These all look almost exactly like the old Remington Mod 37, or the Krieghoff with a sliding lock-up that slides back when the top lever is pushed to the side, then back over the breach end of the barrel set, when closed. The barrels ride on two short trunions, and no other lock-up is utilized, on the Valmet design.

Whatever it is, it most certainly is NOT a Valmet/Tikka 412/512.

The gun pictured here (the "Zoli") is a fairly nice looking gun. Valmet 412"s, to my eyes, look clumsy at best. They handle that way too, in my opinion. I'd trade my 412 any day for the Zoli pictured in rthis thread. The Zoli may or may not be any more dependable, but my Tikka is not dependable anyway, and at least the Zoli doesn't look like the south end of a northbound nanny goat.

If it is an ANTONIO Zoli, it is worth the price asked, in my opinion.

If it is an ANGELO Zoli, I wouldn't want it as a gift. Although the two makes have similar names, my experience has been that the quality is NOT similar.

One fzirly often sees Angelo Zoli guns advertised as "A. Zoli" guns, apparently to take advantage of the good reputation of the Antonio Zoli firearms. But, I repeat, my experience qith the ANGELO Zoli quality has been much less rhan strisfactory.

I'm sitting here looking at an old Cape Outfitters ad stapled to the wall over my workbench. It is for ANTONIO Zoli O/U Rifles. The Express model is $2095 and the Keyler Model is $1995 both in 9.3x74r. Have no idea how old the ad is, it was cut from Gunlist or Shotgun News over 10 years ago at least. Always wanted one never spent the money bought a Valmet instead and after owning several of them stil wish I had bought the Zoli.

I have an Antonio Zoli Silver Snipe Shotgun. I bought it in 1971 as my first o/u shotgun. It was imported and sold by Galef in NYC. I've shot this gun for 30 plus years. It has become my loaner to neophytes. It shoots well has only given me minor repairs over that many years. I paid $200.00 for it and was considering getting rid of it and have since changed my mind. I think it's a decent product and the later guns made by them appeared to be as good or better quality.

TIKKA (made in Finland by SAKO) O/U 12 gauge shotgun / 30 - 06 O U rifle with a Leupold scope.

The Tikka is a good hunting gun. They are a little big and bulky compared to some other combination guns, but the one my buddy had shot good.
Extra bbls can sometime be found.

Have had 3 Valmets in various Ga's/Calibers and find them to be reliable and accurate. Currently have a 12ga/7x57r CZ that I really like to shoot. Have thought about taking to Zim for Guineas and plains game. Seems to be well built and was really cheap (read inexpensive) to buy.

your gun is definitely an ANTONIO ZOLI and you got a super price on that combo.

these are well made guns that have been undervalued .... but since they are no longer imported should appreciate in value as people find out how responsive they handle.

For what is's worth Judge, here in the UK I have seen and used plenty of Antonio Zoli shotguns and rifles. They are good quality guns from a well established and reputable Italian company.
