Went hunting with my Colt Sauer Drilling 12x12x30-06. This 8 pointer was hiding laying there hoping I would pass by. I caught a glimse of his antlers in the sun and thats all it took. I fired the 06 once and he was mine. ![]() No good deed goes unpunished.

Foxfire Congrats on a great first buck to the Drilling. Tell me that it felt something really special! I know that somehow 'normal' turnbolts don't give me the same thrill and connection that the Sauer offers. rgds Ian ![]() Just taking my rifle for a walk!........

That sounds great to me. Maybe boar and pheasant or some kind of game and birds. I'm in let me know if I can be of any help. I know of a place where we could hunt big game in the morning and released pheasant in the afternoon. Naturally it's on a high fence but it could be done. No good deed goes unpunished.

foxie, If we could incorporate fishing into the mix we could do a drilling MacNab...bore, pheasant, and trout/bass...all taken by the sportsman within a 24 hour period, using the drilling for the hunts and anything appropriate for the fish. I've found a quarter stick of Hercules tossed to the right spot in the pond works well enough that none of us would need to bring rods. ![]() We need to get some triple-heads together and organize this. Cost is an issue; make it affordable but worthwhile.

Heck, a drilling will kill a fish. We just need to put it into a barrel. ![]() One morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got into my pajamas I'll never know. - Groucho Marx

How about a hog hunt in Lower Suwannee NWR. Also great trout, tarpon & redfishing at Bills fish camp where I stay when I hunt there: http://lowersuwannee.fws.gov/ Cheap licenses too. Don't need a tag or a mgmt area permit cause it's federal land. Just a state license, res or non-res: http://wld.fwc.state.fl.us/hunting/default.asp I hosted a ML hunt there for years & some of the guys still come hunt the ML season. We still need a bird hunt of some kind to incorporate this into a MacNab...bore, bird, boat full of fish... ![]()

I think as long as the fishing is going to be freshwater. We could do this in the midwest. We could hunt big game of sorts on a high fence, released birds and then fishing. I think what it might cost to try big game, small game and fishing in the wild time and cost would make it prohibitive. No good deed goes unpunished.

My thoughts, too. I think bore are the best buy, and any gamebird will do. Anything but suckers and catfish will work for the fin. ![]() Bore are one of the traditional drilling game animals. Anyone have a place that can do it all up their sleeve?

I may know of just the place. I will call and see on Monday if I remember. Pig, Quail, and bass/bluegill. Dave One morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got into my pajamas I'll never know. - Groucho Marx

That would be a proper MacNab, IMO. ![]()
