I'd say it's 18mm too long. Probably too long for the 99 as well. |

| A .260 Rem will fit. What distance are you planning to shoot it? The Swedes shot their 6.5x55 Mausers at pretty long distances with open sights. |

| I think the Swede would be too long also. 6.5 Creedmoor is a shade under 49mm. Very nice action you have there. |

| 260 AAR or a 6.5/257 Roberts. They have been built on Arisaks for years.

| I have a 260 AAR in a Type 38 Arisaka. It feeds properly. The 260 AAR is a 6.5/257 Roberts blown out. With proper loading and at least a 24 inch barrel, velocities will be close to a 25/o6. Either the 260 AAR or 6.5/267 Roberts would be a good conversion, subject to your intended use. Geoff

| I had one in 6.5 Roberts that used the military barrel(chopped to 19"), shot under 3/4 MOA with Plain Jane Rem 140gr bullets and Scot 4351 powder. Building one now in 25 Rem Mag, only because the bolt was opened up to magnum when I bought it. |

| Bowboy B Do ya remember how much of the 4351 ya stuffed behind that 140 grain projie. I have been using old style Hornady 129s and the supply is all but gone. If I can come up with a decent load, I have enough Remington 140s to use til they plant me. After all that blather I guess we know that the Type 38 action will handle 57 mm cases, but I then 68mm is likely pushing it beyond the limit. Just me, but since the 6.5X55 case has a larger base I would go with anything with the 0.473" base diameter instead. LDO as good as that action looks you may want to sell/trade it to someone trying to build a full military. It is a rare find in todays world and there are those looking for such!

| You don't go by the nomenclate for the cartridge. The 6.5x50 Japanese overall lenght loaded was 76.00 mm (2.992 in). So that means there is a little extra clearance in the magazine so the cartridges can function in it. |
