A Krag I recently finished building. Metal work still to be rust blued. Ebony forearm tip and grip cap. Eleven coats spar varnish blocked between coats and final coat rubbed out then waxed. Redfield No-Drill receiver sight.

they are so smooth and the 30-40 is my favorite, that long 220 gr RN with lots of exposed lead showing kills out of proportion to its ballistics.
One of my uncles killed a ton of deer and elk with his original carbine, and I remember shooting a huge mule deer with it at about 14 years old and an elk some years later..Always factory Remington or Peters ammo, all 220 gr.
