I have a chance to buy a nice looking Siamese Mauser action for what I believe is a reasonable price. ($180). What are some other calibers they are chambered for besides the 45-70? I am kind of intrigued by the prospects of a rimmed cartridge in a sturdy short bolt gun.

The 30-40 Krag and 348 Win. are well suited to the Siamese action.

Here is My Siamese in 30/40. Barrel is a left over M14 Douglass and sights are Remington Takeoffs. Stock is a VERY plain piece of English that shows the graft mark. Scope is Leupold 1.5-5 Vari XIII in rings out of my junkbox on Weaver bases. Safety is a Dayton Traister and the trigger is a Timney.

My favourite cartridge for the Siamese action is the .33 Winchester. Though not a current factory loaded cartridge, it is an excellent old-time one for the deer/elk woods. RCBS will supply dies. The round is made using.45-70 brass and .338" diameter bullets.

My country gal's just a moonshiner's daughter, but I love her still.

RCBS custom shop, now Huntington die specialties, used to stock form dies to make the Siam cases out of .45/70 brass. One was 50mm and the other 52mm long as I recall. So you could just go that way. Could. Happy Trails.

I missed the chance to buy it but the suggestions given here made me think about putting a big bore together with iron sights. A rear peep and front that go together with something like Jeffe's 458. DW
