I am contemplating a trip to Anticosti Island this fall and was going to take my 358 BLR. I usually use 200gr Hornady RN in this rifle, but in consideration of some possibly longer shot opportunities was wondering what anyone has developed using bullets with a better BC. Thanks

Use the same load you have now, but with the 200 gr Spire Point Hornady. Remember, forgivness is easier to get than permission.

The 200 gr Hornady spitzer pushed by the new Alliant 10X powder makes 2700 fps in a 24 inch bbl...that's as flat shooting a 358 load as you can get.

Hey Westernmassman, The 200gr SP Hornady is the bullet I use the most in my 35cal rifles. I've found it to be a tough bullet and best to make sure it enters through a shoulder so it expands properly. Lung-to-lung shots can result in an opportunity to polish-up your Tracking skills. If your l-o-n-g shots will be inside 300yds, there is no need for you to change a thing. Just practice at the distance you intend to actually take a shot and create an accurate Drop Chart for your specific rifle and specific cartridge combination.

I like the 225 Sierra over IMR 4320 or W748. **************** NRA Life Benefactor Member
