it is a fairly anemic round based on a 223 Remington case designed for close quarter House clearing and suppressd fire

it is a 308 caliber

It's a fun cartridge with subsonic loads and a silencer. I use the Outlaw State 225gr bullets(1070fps) for hunting (serrated jackets and lead core) with the silencer out to 100yds or 110gr Hornady soft nose at 2325mv out to 175yds. It is not a powerhouse load so placement is key.

No, it's not a powerhouse but a 220 grain bullet at a bit over 1,000 fps will have pretty good penetration. As I see it, unless you wish to shoot supressed there are much better choices as far as range and power is concerned.

It's the most overhyped underwhelming cartridge in the history of the world.

This is true

Especially with the concrete comando range warrior crowd

I do believe the cartridge is base on the 221Fireball case. Don't ask me how I know. Based on the 223 only as far as the cartridge head is concerned.

221 -- though you can trim and ream 223.

basically, a 30 carbine, but generally MUCH more accurate - fully capable of killing deer and hogs ...

super sonic or not, it works.. but a 300 whizbang, it aint.

opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club

it's a 30 caliber 357 magnum.
I have one and I am looking to buy another.
every time the lgs gets one in it's gone in 1-2 day's.

for fun cheap shooting it's great.
for varmint hunting with 110gr bullets at
23-2400 fps it's great.
I load 120 to 230gr plain base cast bullets on top of 3.5-4.0 grs of whatever fast pistol powder I can find and let the wife and kids go to town with it.
it's cheaper than 22lr and far more effective even at the slow velocity's.
it'll also push 150-165gr jacketed/cast bullets in the 1500 fps area with exceptional accuracy.
