Is it possible to chamber and safely shoot 280 ammo in a gun chambered for 7x64? I did a search but couldn't find that specific data. **************** NRA Life Benefactor Member

the .280 is about .03 longer and about .02 larger in diameter at the shoulder. It wouldn't fit the 7 X 64 Brenneke chamber I suspect but the converse might be true.....you might be able to shoot the 7 x 64 in a .280 chamber. This reply does not consider differences in the strength of actions however, nor is it a recommendation to do so...it is NOT. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." No. It most likely won't even chamber, as the case dimensions are different.

Headspace issues one way, doubt it would chamber the other. Definately a really bad idea.

Amen! Don't try to interchange .280 and 7x64! LLS

Kurt, if I remember correctly, you use to have a couple Sakos in 9.3x62. Do you know where I can find an AV Hunter in the same? I missed one a few years ago and have not seen another. I found an L691, but I also was too late. Lou **************** NRA Life Benefactor Member
