Is it possible to chamber and safely shoot 280 ammo in a gun chambered for 7x64? I did a search but couldn't find that specific data.

the .280 is about .03 longer and about .02 larger in diameter at the shoulder. It wouldn't fit the 7 X 64 Brenneke chamber I suspect but the converse might be true.....you might be able to shoot the 7 x 64 in a .280 chamber.

This reply does not consider differences in the strength of actions however, nor is it a recommendation to do so...it is NOT.

No. It most likely won't even chamber, as the case dimensions are different.

Headspace issues one way, doubt it would chamber the other. Definately a really bad idea.

Amen! Don't try to interchange .280 and 7x64!

Kurt, if I remember correctly, you use to have a couple Sakos in 9.3x62. Do you know where I can find an AV Hunter in the same? I missed one a few years ago and have not seen another. I found an L691, but I also was too late. Lou
