How did they do, at what range did you shoot & whAt speed did you have the bullet loaded? I just did my annual bullet inventory & found an 139 gr interbonds, thinking about trying them in a 280 at about 2,800 fps.

Over the years I've used the 139 gr. bullets but the Interlock's not the Interbond. They have worked well for me in my 7mm Remington magnum at 3300 + fps. I've used them to harvest 23 deer from 35 feet to 500 yards. They have all been one shot kills. I'm not convinced that the Interbond will gain you much more killing power on deer. On those long range shots the Interlock expanded nicely. On the Interbond I'd expect much less expansion a plus on heavier game but on deer it wouldn't be in my opinion.

Hi Tom

I have used the 139gn 7mm interbonds in my 7x64 Brennek which is almost identical to the 280.THe 150 gn are also very good in the .308
The results were excellent with a fallow deer (white tail size) at 50 yds and a small roe deer at 200 yds.
Vel@ 3000 fps with 55 gns R15.
Meat damage was minimal and expansion was good with no secondary damage which you see in NBT's.
The pics below are from test firing through a fresh 12" pine log.

Regards

Mark

I have used them, and like them, in the 7x57 and 284. It is a good deer bullet, but I like the 154 grain Hornady SpirePoint as an all-around 7x57 bullet, probably since my 7x57 rifles are throated for 175 grain bullets.

Tom I've used the 139 Hornady bullets in the 7x57, 280 7mm Rem & 7mm Wby. Most were the old lead tipped "interlok" but I have tried the SST's and the new Interbond as well. Most have been the interlok in the 280. At ranges under 100 yds this bullet mushrooms violently and if placed in the lungs usually results in the deer taking a couple jumps and piles up right there.Occassionally the core and jacket will separate and not exit. Similar performance with the SST. The Interbond mushrooms but penetrates far better.I've only shot 6 or 7 deer with the interbond but all of the bullets exited. It would be a better choice for larger game and for the 7mm Mags even on deer.

i shoot mine at 2900' out of a .280. and i honestly don't beleive that a bullet could not do any better on deer. instant kills and excellent bullet retention on the ones that you are able to recover. going elk hunting this fall and i'm pretty sure this will be my backup gun also.

A friend of mine uses the 140 ILs exclusively for deer in his 270 Win at about that velocity. They work!

All I shoot from my 7mm-08 are the 139 gr Interloks and they perform so well for me I saw no reason to switch to the Interbonds.

Yep, I used it last year, out of my .275 Rigby, the buck was at 200 yards.

Not on deer but on red hartebeest, gemsbok and impala. Loaded to 2 960 fps from a 7x64 Brenneke.

All except one passed straight through and dropped the animals in their tracks. One exception was a red hartebeest, bullet stopped against the ribs on the opposite side, perfectly expanded and weighing about 85% of unfired weight.

It's a fantastic bullet in my opinion and some of the best value for money out there.

The regular Hornady 139gr IL is perfection in the 7-08, 280, and even 7 mags for deer. If the interbond shoots well cant imagine it not doing a great job tu2

I've had good success with 139 Interbonds in my 7mmRemMag. I've shot 2 bigger body sized muley's, several whitetail does, and an antelope with them. All shots were made within 200 yards and were all pass throughs. You can't get any deader than dead.

I plan on loading them in my 7mm-08.

As you have noted, you don't hear much, if anything bad about the interbond or, for that matter, the interlock. I took a 7 rem mag on my first trip to Africa to shoot the small antelope, using 139 Gr. interlocks. The same load I use on Pronghorn. I ended up using it on everything on the advice of my PH. His statement was " I like bullets that blow-up on the inside. I don't need the exit wound to track the animal. You wouldn't believe how easy it is to track a dead animal". Thats when I stopped worrying too much about bullet performence and more about accuracy. My last trip to Africa I took 16 animals and used 22 rounds, three used for scope zero and two each on a running Osterich and a running Gemsbuck. The rifle was a 7mm WBY, 160gr. Hornady interlocks, they work great. ......Tom

Take a look @ my avatar, that's a 139gr .284 Interbond.

Here are some better shots.

That bullet struck a very large (42" heart girth) whitetail doe high on the scapula quartering on @ about 30 yds.

Mv was 3200+ fps so it was still going close to 3100fps when it hit her.

It penetrated the scapula, lungs, liver, stomach, intestines & the rear hindquarter on the far side befor coming to rest under the hide next to the femur.

It penetrated @ least 36" of animal after expanding on the scapula. It retained 86% of it's weight weighing 119.5 grs as you see it.

Best damned bullet i ever used. Far superior to the Nosler Accubond.

I have always had complete pass throughs on all but extreme angle frontal shots.

For 2800 fps Mv a 140gr Nosler ballistic tip would be my choice.

That level of MV does not require a bonded bullet & a BT will open up better.

Here is a picture of a young man's 1st buck shot @ about 90 yds W/my 7mm-08 @ 2900 fps Mv.

Note the large exit wound.
