| No .260, I think the 257R would be a nice caliber in that gun. But it is a little light for what I want. Hopefully, now that they are swapping barrels, they will get back to me quickly. |

| You paid for a 7mm-08. Tell them to keep your original rifle and send you back another 7mm-08 until they replace the barrel on your original. That's what a good business would do. |

| Let's see, 308 dies, boolits, brass, powder to buy. Loads to work up... I would not have settled. There is a NEW 7-08 Kimber somewhere that they could replaced yours with. That said, you are happy. All that matters

| I have owned 5 or 6 .308 rifles, depending on what type of rifle the cartridge is chambered in it can be many things. My next rifle will be a 7-08 or .260 cause I am bored with .308's.
Twere me I would have got my money back or got my 7-08, but a .308 I have been told by several of their Montana based employee's is the best chamberings in that little rifle. |

| sdtdfw.... Just how big are these hogs that the majority of the posters say you need a .308Win or .338Fed. for?.....

| Do you own another rifle in 308 Winchester?
I honestly think we all need at least one 308 Win rifle (here in the USA at least) as a tactical firearm in the case of civil emergency.
A Kimber would fit that bill nicely.
But if you have other 308 Win rifles, then get the 257 Roberts. It is such a sweet shooting round. Really, really kills deer and similar size game when correctly placed (and of course nearly all modern calibers do that), but it's just so easy to shoot...like an oversize rimfire 22.

| Low Wall, Hogs go from 30 lb. piglets to 400 or 500 boars and they are tough.
N. Garrett, this will be the first 308. I normally shoot a 7 mag. was looking for something a lighter for Texas hunting. Will be interesting. If it shoots good, I will be happy. Availability of ammo is another plus. |

| Hey sdtdfw, Best of luck with the 308Win, it is one of the very best Cartridges ever released to the public. I've had one since the `50s and there are more Powders which work well<->great in it than any other Cartridge I've ever loaded.
Mild recoil and plenty of Power on the recieving end.
Best of luck to you. |

| I LOVE my Montana, I'd have 'em fix it as you wanted it of reimburse you for the work done by a good smith. FWIW, there's not much space in that magazine so any cartridge longer than a 07 will have to be seated deer.If you have to choose, I'd go with the 308. I agree with the poster that says to give Barnes TSX at try. Mine loves a diet of 140 grn Barnes TSX and 40 grns of Varget. |

| As an aside, a friend just got a new Kimber 1911 that wouldn't fire. Took it apart and no firing pin! Guess they're running short on those too!

| The 308 came in the mail yesterday. (Came with two targets showing 1" groups at 100 yards, better than it was) Got the scope mounted and hopefully on Sunday, I will get a chance to try it out. |

| what a farce .. a rifle maker that, after 5-6 months, can't replace a @$#@$@$ barrel under warranty.. horsehockey All that being said, there's no MEASURABLE killing difference on 257rob, 708, and 308 .. and the joke of the year, the 338 federal (wth is wrong with the perfect 358 that a smaller bullet would fix?) .. I am taking my 257 on the axis doe / pig hunt in 2 weeks, as its my most accurate rifle, and I haven't taken a stroll with her in awhile |

| here is my problem. 1. the Kimber 308 is twisted 1-12 so forget heavy bullets or maybe even 180 TSX bullets. 2. The Kimber .257 bob has a magazine box that will not allow you to seat the bullet out far enough to be just off the lands. Don't have the numbers at my finger tips but I think about 2.8 for the magazine box and 2.9 something for the begining of the leade.
I hope they get the 7-09 straightened out as I am saving money for either a 7-08 or a .243win. The .243 will probably kill anything I will run into but the 7-08 is a bit more versatile. |

| Finally made it to the range. The gun shoots pretty good. At least MOA and I think I can do better than that. I Think it is now a keeper. |

Glad it finally worked out for you. Load up some 165TSX and don't look back.

The 308 Win is the most forgiving round I've ever worked with and my 308 Kimber Montana prints sub moa groups with boring regularity with nearly any bullet. RL15 is your huckleberry. I personally wouldn't recommend a TSX or TTSX after what I've seen with them, but a simple Hornady or Speer Hotcore, or better yet, Nosler Partition will certainly be all you'll need. |

| I am partial to Hornady. Took a box of 150gr. SST to the range. I had a four shot group with three touching and a flyer. Don't know about the flyer except the barrel was hot by then and I probably flinched. Fourth shot (after the barrel cooled) split the first two. Have had very good luck hunting with Hornady in my 7 mag. |
