I have one in 300saum and love it. Yeah I know a dead caliber, but i reload and have stocked up on brass. still don't know velocities due to chrony broke. I love hunting with it. It actually feels lighter than my 788 .308 carbine.

I looked at one of these, chambered in 308 Win, at a local gun store. I felt that it had good balance and didn't feel heavy at all. I have big hands so the stock doesn't even feel clubbish to me. In fact, if I was making a larger bore carbine (sort of like 375 Ruger Alaskan) that 700 LTR style of weapon would fit me well.

My brother and a police officer friend of mine both bought the 300 SAUM a few years ago on sale. I load for both. They both came with camo stocks, are very lightweight, and shoot very well. Brother has 2 rifles only. A custom 270 and the 300. The 270 is a little heavier, so he likes the 300 best for a carry rifle. Ted Kennedy's car has killed more people than my guns
